Kevo?:D

Not that there's anything wrong with 850 Pro. A friend of mine and lurker is curious.

I haven't found anything that is quite like 850 Pro. The combination of attributes it has is unusual. It doesn't move very much, even when strung at lowish tensions, and it is comfortable without being overly powerful. If I had to pick something I would say head FXP, but it has it's own somewhat unique attributes. What is your friend looking for in particular?

Maybe it's closer to some syn guts than to other multis.

salt grain: Maybe it's kinda similar to new NXT's? But only when the NXTs are fresh.

Babolat's Syntronic Brio, on the firm side, is probably the closest to it; their Fibertour has a somewhat softer feel.

Nat. Gut  jp...maybe Klip's Scorcher? Seems to be a double-wrap with a coating. Same $$ too.

Dont mean to hi-jack, but would any of you gents recommend the use of 880 soft in place of 850 Pro to soften up a stiff frame? I know a few of you have used it. My RDS 003 @ 67 lbs gets to me sometimes.....Any input on the 880 soft would be great. Gracias!

Wow that's pretty tight. Are you sure you need to play with it strung that tight. I can't imagine any string other than gut that would be comfortable at that tension. Even some guts would be pretty tough at 67lbs.

I used to play with my Ti-80 @ 67lbs with NXT until I discovered SPPP. It was too tight, but had to do it because there was too much power.

Anyway, I found the 880 to be softer than the 850. 850 seemed more powerful and more lively somehow too.

880Ti Soft is extremely elastic to the point of being mushy.
I find that I don't have as much control because of this.

I am currently trying 880Ti in the crosses of my RDX500 mid at 54 lbs.
And 850 Pro in the mains at 57 lbs.
It feels like I get the spin of the 850Pro while getting a little more pop and cushion from the 880Ti.

I finally got my stringing machine and a few Yonex strings from TW. 850 Super Tour FOR THE WIN (haven't tried it yet)!

I found that 850Pro crosses break first while 880Ti mains break first (each full jobs). "So why not hybrid them?!" I thought. I thought it would be more durable. Well, I've got 4 hours on them so far.... so far so good.

IMO, a 850 Pro full job is still my favourite. Though, I have not tried 850 Super Tour (next job)

Great input gents, mucho thanks. Yes, i string at 67 lbs to offset the power, but next round I'm going down to 65 and laying off the red bulls

The hybrid sounds pretty good, although perhaps I might do it the other way around, 880 mains-850 Pro crosses. I'm finding now that my crosses are loose and shifting with each stroke, that I'm loosing crosscourt side-to-side control.

Overall, I really dont want to loose control just to gain a soft stringbed. Is 880 really "that" mushy? Also thinking about Prince's Softflex as an alternative, but afraid both strings will die prematurely....guess it's trial & error....

If you are talking about the 850 pro spin, I think wilson reaction is very similar to it. IF you are talking about the Tour Super 850, I think its kind of close to Technifibre TRC, but moves around less and is more durable.

Adely, what tension are you stringing the SPPP at on the 001? Danke
