I want to change my mfil 300 from 10.9oz to ~11.7oz. How much tape should I add? I have the gamma .5in tape.

1 ounce is about 28g. So you want 11.7-10.9 = .8 oz. which is 28*.8g = 22.4g. Read the package, but I think it's 1inch = .5 gram. So that would be about 45in. There isn't that much in a pack. You might want to consider fishing weights in the handle as well.

in order to add 0.8oz to the racquet with the gamma .5in tape youll need 45.5 inches of lead tape. make sure you know where and how to add the lead tape properly.

I read an article from a top racquet tech and he said that if you add a lot of lead tape it makes your racquet go dead, and lose it's feel. I can see his point. You're better off buying a racquet that is closer to your desired specs stock.

well 0.8oz is quite a lot of weight to add, like ajk1 said, your probably better off buying a heavier racquet because too much lead will deaden the feel

Get some Babolat lead tape. It's heavier per inch.

WHY? How did you come up with this goal? Start with 5ins at 3 & 9, with and equal amount of lead under the grip. Then you can add more , if needed.

I'm saying this as your post doesn't give any background on any past leading experience with this frame. Good luck.

9g shouldn't deaden the feel much.

I've added 30g to a PS 85..still feels great.

Just make sure you apply it evenly and balance it out correctly. More then likely the change in feel is a result of a change in balance, not weight.

Look around these boards..somewhere someone posted a excel file with all the formulas for customizing...

As per travlerajm's findings, i had good experiences adding weight to the top of the handle (just above your top hand on a 2hb) and at 3/9
