I am a 43 year old left handed player and thankfully relatively injury free over the years.

However during the past couple of seasons I have tried to learn the more modern game, open stance forehand etc which I believe may have contributed if not caused a hamstring and swollen left knee for the past month.

The x-ray also showed mild fluid on the knee. I was advised not to play for a couple of weeks but now a month has passed. The pain and swelling are noticably less but still there. The knee can be stiff especially when trying to stand up and walk after having sat down for an appreciable period of time - i.e. working in an office.

Is it best to reduce the inflamation even further before doing anything even such as physio, or would that be a wise cause of action now.

Thanks in advance

Your doctor-whom I presume is the same person who advised you not to play for a couple weeks-is best able to answer that.
