I have taken the grommet strip off of my flexpoint prestige and put some lead tape on the frame at 12 and 9. However when I try to put the grommet strip back on the 6th grommet at the top on both sides will not go all of the way in. If I bend the grommet strip and try to put just the 6th grommet in it still doesnt go in, it's almost as if it is too short. The 6th grommet is not above any lead tape it is just to but the 5th grommet is. Could someone please solve my problem??!!

When you say all the way, is it that it is just not coming through the hole all the way or is it hitting the hole? Also, are these new grommets or has the racquet been strung before?

It is not going all the way through the hole. This racquet has been strung before

The problem you are facing is that the grommet has been flared probably from a tie off knot. Bad news is that it's almost impossible to re-insert a used grommet strip, and it may have to be replaced with a new one.

but why is it not reaching all the way through. It is flared a bit but it is not getting stuck.

Did you try to force it through the hole before? Is the grommet bent?

So the grommet isn't flared at all? If it is, it could bind in the hole causing it not to reach. One thing you could do is to take a straight awl, and a heat gun, stick the straight awl throught that gromment and carefully heat it up which will get it's shape back. It's also possible that when you go to string the racquet that the grommet will suck down into the hole when tension is pulled.
If these things don't work, you will need to purchase a new grommet set.

OK. I have ordered a new grommet set. I have heard they are a pig to get on. Do you have any advice or hints?

set them out in the sun or in front of a window that has the sun comming in through it and let them warm up a bit and then they will be easier to work with...

That has happened to me before. Just order some new grommets for your racket.

Any help??

Start from the middle and work your way out. Definatley have a straight awl to help with guiding the grommets through the holes.

Not really. I do my own sticks. But it is so cheap to let a certified guy do it......let him do it RIGHT the first time. Pay him ten or 15 bucks for the ten minutes it will take. Watch and learn. Do it yourself next time. Inexpensive lesson.

Best of luck.
