recently i have tried the pete sampras 'o' and found that it does not dampen the ping noise enough. in the past i have used the gamma worm and it is too much dampening. i tried a #64 rubberband and guess what....not enough dampening. now i am gonna try tieing a # 64 rubber band on 4 strings instead of 2. anyone have this problem?

you basically need a longer dampener. the wilson shock trap or any type of worm dampener should prevent the pinging sound.
dunno

I used to use the gamma worms but now I switched to Babolat RVS and like it better.

By the way does anyone know how much the Babolat RVS dampener weighs?

You can wrap the rubberband around the strings and then tie. thats a great dampener.

I use the wilson ntrap... It doesn't dampen as much as worms, but it takes out most of the annoying ping, IMO more than the Sampras O...

Sometimes its not a dampener problem, and that "ping" can be due to the fact that your strings have lost tension and you need to restring (particulalry true for people who use high tensions on tension giving strings). After a while, even though the strings look fine, they may have lost 20% of its tension, and that causes that weird ping and crappy feeling in the racquet.
So i reccomend you trie restringing, using a regular dampener, or rubberband, whatever, and comparing that to when it was before you strung, and see if thats the problem.
good luck

get a babolat custom damp. they're really soft so they dampen a lot better.

The Forten worms are very effective at reducing ping, I've found.

Extremely pleased with this dampener and it covers more string, http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACBAB-BRVSD.html

Yeah I love the RVS its a great shockdampener and adds a good amount of weight to the racquet. And I was still wondering what its exact weight was. I would guess .7 ounces?

0.3 oz or 8 grams, maybe add two?

If you hit off centered shots, yes. If you hit with precision, on the sweetspot or around it, no, it will not fall off. Ive played with it and never flew off, that happens when ppl hit it dead smack in the dampener, then off course it might shoot off. assuming you hit centered shots, should have no problem. I think daniela hantchuncova or watever uses it, and it never falls off her racquet. why? because she doesnt nail the dampener with off centered shots.
hope this helps!

Nadal is probably the player of most note who uses the Custom Damp.

I stopped using my old sampras O ring because part of the reason is that my bb orig string's been hard on my arm even with such low tension. I've used alu power 64lbs before and didn't have any problems. bb orig retains tension better IMO.
Anyways, I now use a pro kennex worm dampener and it gives me much better dampened feel and comfort than the O coz it covers more main strings. I thought about switching to multi strings and now I don't need to.

Is this true? I have a stock strung i.Radical for about half a year now. It doesn't feel like it was a few monts back. Should I restring?
