Hey Rob. X-1 Biphase plays great, but now as you might expect. Firstly, the feel i very close to gut. Which is really nice for your arm. Spin is still good, as i didn't expect it to be. Be warned though, it does make quite tingy noise on the 300, so use a good dampener, RUMBERBANDS FTW!!! Overall a top class string, with the feel of gut and the playability of a top notch poly.

Im not sure about my 300,don't know why, but i'm not. Maybe because I used to always buy from my local shop, and they were really helpful. I now feel a little guilty, we got to know them really well, and i feel unloyal. I was Kinda buying the Ag300 just because it was sooooo cheap at the time. It just doesn't feel right. Plus, i have always used to use Babolat, and i really like their racquet's, especially the Pure storm.

I'm not 100% sure about it either, Tomo, I get what you mean. It's like I feel that it's not a 'quality' racket because of the price, I've never really used a Babolat or a Wilson but it's something I would look into later maybe.

Are you aware SaunderS uses the PD? C'mon you're turning into an idiot now... Why would you call it a jelly power monster? I thought the racket was alright... Too light and stiff with a bit too much power. But I wouldn't say it sucks. And the Wilson KBlade isn't exactly for everybody either

thanks for noticing. im glad somebody around here does :-D. I would like to demonstrate my skill. First of all lets start with the width of the racket. The wider it is means more power, and in most cases less stiff. the smaller the beam width is, the more control and less power you get. in most cases you get more stiffness as well. If you have a big frame say 110 square inch, then you will have a power monster with no control. if you have a smaller head size, then you get more control and less power. the more weight you have, the more power you will have, and also you will have more control, coz the heavier it is the more "free" power the racket will giive you. less weight means less control and power. Beginners would usually prefer a lighter bigger racket. Pros usually go for plauers rackets that includes, small headsize, heavier, and smaller width.
Thankyou for reading my funny post and hopefully this will help you for your next racket purchase :-)
LOL im gonna get some angry bragging posts about this LOL

The PD is very stiff and powerfull. Beam width really doesnt have too much to do with flex. Look at vantage, both exactly the same constant beam size and they have 2 different flexes.

Its nothing wrong with it. I just dont like them. I like control, small rackets like the k-blade. I would recomend trying the k-blade becouse everyone ive met that tried it, even beginners sad that it was an awesome racket. Even tought the K-blade has aa small headsize it is a very forgiving racket :-)

no. With rackets like the kblade wich is heavy and small stiff frame, you get a racket with control over your power.with PD all u get is power and not as much control

I don't think you understand the concept of power/control requirements in specifications. The only thing that makes the KBlade tour a control-orientated racket is the small headsize and the dense string pattern. You see, the high stiffness adds power not control. Where as the Pure Drive is bigger head size (=bigger sweetspot) and more open string pattern which both ultimately take away some control... As I understand it the Pure Drive's stiffness makes the racket very powerful.

That is what i said:rolleyes:
The small head and string pattern(i didnt mention the stringpattern though)
means the racket has a lot of control. the stiffnes and weight also gives it enough power to make it the perfect racket. Youll understand what i mean if you try the racket

First of all, you're wrong so give it up... I'm pretty sure I know more about this than you by simply stating what you did "anyways the stiffnes i think does add controll, not power."
Here's the evidence you need:
A stiffer racquet will not bend as much as a more flexible one. Bending loses energy because the frame does not snap back by the time the ball leaves the strings. By using the program above, you will notice that frame stiffness seems to matter least just below the center of the racquet and most near the tip. Near the center, specifically at the so-called "node of oscillation" (or "no vibration sweetspot"), the racquet will not bend when the ball hits it. Therefore, at those locations the program will list a few very soft frames with a lot of power closer to the top of the list. At the tip, where the frame wants to bend the most, stiffness is more important and you see stiffer frames percolating to the top of the list.
Taken straight from http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/specsandspeed.html
This clearly states that the stiffer the racket the less it bends which equals more power than a flexible racket.

read this. I cant give a link coz its one of TWs competitors, enjoy ;-)
Flexpoint racquets feature two precisely-engineered control holes in the racquet's head. This creates a new point of flex, which cups the ball and improves control without losing power. The patented HEAD Flexpoint technology breaks the rules of traditional racquet design by not making racquets stiffer, but by engineering them to flex in a new and revolutionary way.
With a conventional racquet, the ball strikes the racquet at 90 degrees, but due to the racquet flexing it leaves the racquet at a different angle. A Flexpoint racquet is designed to cup the ball by flexing at the Flexpoints. The cupping effect reduces the angle at which the ball leaves the strings and promotes more accurate hitting. Flexpoint technology increases the dwell time and ball pocketing due to its cupping effect which increases feel and provides a larger sweetspot.
Flexpoints are made up of two complimentary features and are located at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions on the racquet head. Each Flexpoint features an engineered dimple to create flexibility by reducing the beam width by a maximum of 25%. Each Flexpoint also features a hole in the center of the dimple which reduces sectional stiffness by 50%.
The flexpoint racket is not very stiff is it?
AND it is a power monster just as is said in the text above. And also from my own experience with the racket

So you're trying to compare a sales pitch to a site dedicated to scientific information... "The cupping effect reduces the angle at which the ball leaves the strings and promotes more accurate hitting" The flex causes the racket to cup the ball which then reduces the angle not "the flex makes it powerful". And another thing, "This creates a new point of flex, which cups the ball and improves control without losing power" means that the flex doesn't make it more powerful, it gives it more control.

why doesnt every one drop this.
anyways heres something i found:
Flexibility
Do you want Stiff or Flexible?
Stiff racquets bend and torque less.
Stiff racquets are usually more powerful. A flexible racquet requires the player produce more power.
Stiff racquets are usually more accurate due to reduced flex on impact providing a more consistent result.
Flexible racquets are more comfortable because they produce less shock. This helps to avoid tennis elbow problems.
proof i didnt just write that my self: http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Tennis+Racquets

okay CHANGING THE SUBJECT
i have a tournament tommorow on Indoor Artificial grass any tips for the surface
here is my game plan (which will adjust acordingly to my opponents strengths and weaknesses.
1. deap balls to opponents backhand
2. sometimes play short low balls to bring them into the net for a lob or pass
3. serve outwide and come in for volley (regularly)
4. play slices to keep the ball low
any suggestions?

OK, i've only played on outdoor, but it will be similar. Its quite slippery and slidy, so take that into account. Also, i would take an extra pair of socks for after the match. The sand gets in your shoes and socks. very uncomfortable. Its about medium-pace aswell.
EDIT. Slices are good. its very low-bouncing.

why not slice?
I defo have the semi sponsorship should i take advantage of them and get the reels of string along with grips vibration dampeners etc??? i guess everything would cost me around $25 for postage plus that $84 so $109 for everything. they said they'll send me 8 packs of 3 over grips.

why not slice?
he should. slice back hands on a 1 hbh are excelent and no one expects it that much. i would recomend the back spin slice serve very nice or top spin if your a lefty diference is which way the bal spins from which hand that does this. btw its verry surprising and i am trying to fix mine so its perfect. i'm hoping by april i would have a verry acurate slice serve. i would also tell you to put alot of power on your shot when they least expect it.
are you getting it all?
yeah i am once my uncles come and give me $200 and also when i find a job.

01-24-2009, 01:04 PM
Tofi, although 2mp is poor quality, videoing yourself serving should be ok, so we can see your technique etc. oh and why will your uncles give you 200?
they dont come over from america too often so they like to give me and my brother presents and they dont know what so each one of them gives us $100 each in total after both of them visit i would have $200. i used the last $200 on my racket and must say it was an excellent investment. I still need to get my serves exactly how they where last week. always in the box and go over the net with tons of spin. I'm ok doing my serves from the right hand on my side of the court to the left hand box on the other half but from left to right i cant get it in that well or i would over hit it and it goes past the box.

That normally tends to work:) My coach told me of a different technique of serving today and it really works. My current serve is the best i've had.
i think i have had a very bad wee kin terms of focus. 4 days of tests isnt good then one day going back in to school work doesnt help either.

yeah all the stuff everyone told me was close to what i had planned and yea i attack alot thats my game style attacking shots and some serve and volley play but i offten throw away cheap points
my rating is 9.2 :( however for some reason my play in tournaments is very low compared 2 my play outside tournys which is somewhere around 7.1 however the last tournament i played i lost a 8.1 and then i had a match against a 9.1 and my dad (sort of coach) told me before the match im 2 nervous in tournys and im scared to go for my shots and instead of dropping half court balls that i get picked off on i should play like i do outside of tournaments and go for each ball i did this in my next match and although i wasn't playing well i beat the 9.1 4-1 4-1 and dropped less games than the 8.1 did against him
so this sort of proves it however my results tommorow hopefully will be my evidence for a rating appeal which i have my coach to back up aswell:)

hm, i understand what you mean. i used to be like that too. I could play like a 8.1-7.1 outside tournys when i was rated 9.2, but not when i played them. Now though i can play maybe like a 7.2-6.1? outside tournys, and in tournys maybe 7.2-7.1? im 8.2 now(need 1 match more to go up :-D). ok what ever sorry for having a go its been abit of a stressful week for me. my first tourny is on the 29th of march as i'm taking time to get better and because there aren't any more tests i guess i can focus on practise more now. i cant exactly find a hitting partner during the week so i have to hit against a wall which would help me develop my strokes more i guess.

Tofi you should do some matchplays before a proper tournament.
level 5 tournys are good enough for me matchplays i cant find any in march in beds or herts so i screw that. ladder leagues are also verry good practise.

even though you've been practising for a while, dont expect it to be a walk in the park. There will be some tough opponents.

I'm 16 now, injured at the moment. @Alexio92 what's your name? And what county are you? I'm Sussex here and was number 1 mens but they didn't even pick me for County cup because they didn't know me. Buggers. :P Also the 2.2 I beat was about 20 I think.

Was meant to play Sheffield but had to pull out due to my shoulder. Will have to pull out of the one next week too, not sure where it is though. I've played to bad BT's recently losing first round qualies in both. Hopefully can pick up a bit of form soon. How about you Moz?
I'll play at Corby. I am considering Swansea but it's a bit of a trek.
I am just rounding into form after a long bout of injury and frustration. Hope your shoulder improves - I saw some of your match at the Nottingham event.

At least Fin has something to boast about... He actually has results (and a rating) to back him up. You act like you're the greatest thing on earth when you're only an 8.2 and then deny that you're not boasting. Fintendo didn't go around saying "I'm 14 and I play just as well as them" about a video showing a top-ranked junior that would crush you into dust (even if he did kinda cheat on that last point). And it's not even an argument its a fact.
