I love my wilson bag. It's the army green and lime green wilson super 6. I don't like the gold on the black bag.
SaunderS
02-01-2009, 02:04 AM
Whats wrong with the gold on black? the green one is ok, but fairly distracting.
Fintendo
02-01-2009, 02:24 AM
I just don't like gold in general. I prefer the green because no one has it either.

I haven't used the Kblade even though I'd like to. There's a chance I could get a sponsor from a local sports shop for rackets so I might try it if the agree. I would also like to try the microgel radical. Seems like my kind of raquet.
Petekbladetour1
02-01-2009, 12:17 PM
if you like the kblade theres no chance u gonna like the microgel. the rackets are on diferent planets

robertg06

I very nearly got the 93, but decided against it last minute and got the AG 200, it was kinda the extra £60 that swayed me in the end.

Westy, im taking A level PE next year too, whats it like?
It's pretty good, a massive step up from GCSE! Literally huge. I got a B last year but re-took a module in January. Only need like 3 marks so hopefully will bump up to an A! I'd recommend it for sure.
I've got some videos of me. Hopefully put them up soon.

you can't say mush considering his rating is 6.2 and yours is 8.2 and his shots are very good actually:neutral:
and i changed my mind after watching again its about 70/30 most the balls go deep and the ones that go in the service box are very low which is actually very useful

i dunno i talked to the organizer today and i ased if theirs over 16 in each draw (cause their was only 36 people in the whole tourny at that time) he said yea and their has now been over 70 entries lol:)

hey all im here. mozzer sorry about the argument i dont really care much now. my interent company where being nobs so my dad canceled with them and i was left with no interent for a while. anyways yes i do use a k90 and im happy with what i did last week. aced a guy twice with my kick serve. i dont think my courts will be in good enough condition to play on after the snow that i have had for the past week. i'll check tomorow. btw welcome to the forums fintendo and wow what a great record you have do you train everyday???

im gonna try to get some one to one coaching my mum is paying for it i hope its twice a month that i get this. my serves are so good. reason i was netting them was because i threw the ball to low which ment i rushed the serve but that was fixed on saturday with a little hit with an assistant coach. i might try and become an assistant coach because i need the cash £20 a week aswell. my back hand has become much better. i also got a 7A in my english exam. so happy.

you can't say mush considering his rating is 6.2 and yours is 8.2 and his shots are very good actually:neutral:
yeah his shots arent bad but i could hit those kind of shots all day long without missing. what i meant about the fh was that i dont think it looks very smooth. it gets the job done but its not as pretty as a djockovics or mine (i know though that how a forehand looks like doesnt matter much)
i read the whole thing. But i bet you dont hit 80mph kickserves do you?
I do :-)

yeah for me it is. do remember i have only dont tennis for 1 year and a month and i have only played for 3 months in 2007 which is included in that year and a month. i dunno what MPH i hit at as i never have tested it.
Petekbladetour1

I've faced a 110mph serve and I've also faced a 6"0 15 year olds serve, I'm sure you cant hit 110mph consistenly cause if you did you wouldnt have such a crap rating and low ranking. So please read Moz's saying and shut up. And stop dreaming of becoming number 1 in the world because you won't ever become one with that attitude of yours. Imagine it:
"Radar gun reading: 85 MPH
Pete: You cannot be serious! That was definitely 140mph"

ha ha. I see that there is no use trying to convince u guys something that u dont want to believe even though its true. im not saying i serve 110mph all the time. i just said that my fastest serve is around 110 and that i usually serve between 95 to 110 mph. I first got a rating september 2007. Since then ive gone from 10.2 to 8.2. Ive gone up in every ratings run(except the first one in sep 2007 coz i hadnt played any matches yet back then)twice. The only ratings run i didnt go up was this last one in december coz i didnt play enough matches. What ive been trying to tell you is this. I only got a rating 1.5years ago and since then ive improved faster than my ratings been allowed to go up.

PeteKblade, let me get this straight, you are a 14 year old 8.2 rated player who can hit a kicker at 80mph and hits a 110mph first serve? I've played with national players who don't serve that big! There are only 2 players called pete, with your age and rating in the UK and I used to coach the other one, so looking at your tournament record why aren't you playing G5's and G4's, as an 8.2 you should get into all G5's and G4's for your age group, and with a 110mph serve you'll destroy everybody. Post a vid if you can, as if all you say is true you can come and train in one of my squads for free!!!

hey im not gonna do grade 5s. im gonna start doing grade 3s soon.
To everybode who does not believe that its possible for a 14 year old to hit 110 mph serves then read this.
THere was one guy who was with the australian team pracising at sutton. I saw this guy he was16 year old. He has a 142mph serve. if a 16 year old can have a 142mph serve then a 14 can have a 110 mph serve.
btw that guy played the wimbledon junior doubles

You may struggle to get in some G3's with you rating, especially the bigger events, you'd be better playing 5's and 4's to get your ranking up and get some easy wins against fellow 8's. As for the serve, there is a big physical difference (in general) between boys at 14 and 16 which would account for some of the increase in speed, but 142 at 16 would mean the speed gun is either misplaced or mis registered. I once hit a serve at 347mph on the one at our club. Like I say, if you're as good as you say you are, and have improved as quickly as you say, post a vid and you can come and train with our squad if it looks good?!

You may struggle to get in some G3's with you rating, especially the bigger events, you'd be better playing 5's and 4's to get your ranking up and get some easy wins against fellow 8's. As for the serve, there is a big physical difference (in general) between boys at 14 and 16 which would account for some of the increase in speed, but 142 at 16 would mean the speed gun is either misplaced or mis registered. g5??? you joking ive never played a g5 in my life. i started off playing g4 in wich, I came to the semis, won one, and made it to the wuarters in a third. THis was in the summer so i have improved since then. I dont think that guys radar gun was misplaced. It was an official measurment. And also ive seen it when i played at sutton tennis academy. I promise you that guys serve is huge!!!
Thanks for your offer about playing in your squad, but ive left squad playing behind me. Instead ive got myself a private coach whos name is carly homewood. shes been number 600WTA. What David Lloyd do you coach at?

No it's because you're so damn cocky. Ok we get your the best thing since Federer, we're just trying to have normal chat and you come in constantly boasting and saying how you can do everything better than everyone else. Again if you were so good we would've heard of you buy now.

02-06-2009, 12:35 PM
The OP asked what is your best achievement in British tennis. I said that. If I wanted to be really cocky I could. I've got a hell of a lot more to boast about than you. I don't mind baosting it's ok, but when you keep insulting people's games and saying things like, I could do that all day and My serve is way bigger than that etc. It just sets you up to be inuslted yourself.
Petekbladetour
Frequently people denigrate the game of others. The reason is usually because they feel it reflects well on their game. The problem is that to the impartial outsider it has the opposite effect.
Often the real root cause of this behaviour is insecurity. So that's what people see when they see that all your posts are either a criticism or denigration of other peoples game or a promotion of your own game.
That is partly the reason you are having a problem with credibility with your serve - your other posts have turned people off believing you. Your claims are unlikely but they could be true - unfortunately your boastful and immature attitude has made it impossible for people to believe you.
A bit more humility will help you improve, persuade others to help you improve and will result in people pulling for you rather than against you.

NExt Generation Clubs were started by Scott Lloyd after they sold David LLoyd Leisure to Whitbread PLC around the year 2000. Whitbread sold David LLoyd in late 2007 to a venture capitalist firm who also happen to own Next Generation. It was decided to rebrand the whole group as David LLoyd as the brand has the bigger name and also more sites (70ish DLL to 16 NG). Your tournament results don't back this statement up at all, you played one Grade 4 in the Winter and lost your first match (to an 8.2) after a bye in round one. Everything else has been grade 6 matchplays. If you have improved so much since the summer what's going on with your results?

haha tofi!:) I always bang my knees! Pete, i would say you play like your rating. Didnt see much of your backhand, though.
Now I'm confused....you say this.....
But your last 6 lta results show that you beat two 8.2's and lost to one 8.2 but your last 3 matches were all losses to 8.1's....
So why do you think you are better than an 8.2? Seems about right to me.

To be honest you seem like a solid 8.2, maybe an 8.1. One thing that has annoyed me slightly was that you said about my play "i could easily hit those type of shots and never miss" or something to that point. In your video you dont seem to be hitting the ball with as much pace as i do and at one point you hit two in a row straight into the net. Please don't feel the need to lie about your ability, no-one here is going to look down on you cos your not as good as someone else. you seem to be younger than me anyway. You are not classed as playing for a living, I know people that play full-time and need to skip school and travel to ITF's... You haven't even seen any of us play. How do you know? And before you say " I'm a better rating" remeber what YOU said. Rating doesn't mean anything

I have a social life at tennis. i don think you can say ur better than me when you didnt even see where the balls landed. i can infor myou that almost every ball landed in the corners and that might be one reason you guys didnt think i played better than a 8.2 in the vid. also if you would have looked from an angle from the back you would have seen that the shots where a lot harder too

Thought you were a little rusty? Yet you still get them ALL in the corners?

FIrst in this tourny i was not very strong mentaly. second this guy was way better than his rating. i know its a bad excuse but its true
Yeah you're right it is a bad excuse. A lot of guys play above their ratings sometimes but can't get the consitent results. And I'm mentally unprepared for a lot of matches but if I lose I don't put my loss down to that. You need to man up a bit mate and stop making such bold claims.

And considering you guys are only 9.1 10.2 etc you dont know that much about tennis either. Lets see what someone like fintendo ash smith and westy has to say
Pete,
I've watched your videos and taking into account every thing you've said on here, for your age you're spot on an 8.2. In your groundies video you hit the ball pretty hard off the forehand (although compressed video always makes shots look faster than they are), but it's very inconsistent.
Have a chat with Carly about your transition from preparation-backswing-acceleration on your forehand. You have a small pause at the back, where you lay the racquet off behind you which causes you to miss-time some shots. You also don't contract you elbow prior to accelerationg your left hip - which causes your elbow to rise rather than stay down, this affects the pre-stretch in your forearm and can cause the racquet angle to be variable at impact, most commonly too closed - hence the netted shots.
Your serve isn't over 80mph in that vid, but with a bit of tweaking it has the potential to be as you get older and stronger. You have a pretty good "trophy" position with your upper body, but your foot work affects your hip line and rotation. Your back foot moves around the side of your right foot which causes your hips to open too early. This will result in loss of potential power through contact and over rotation through the swing. Look at your right foot after the serve, it finishes pointing toward the right net post and all your weight is moving in that direction rather than into the court. This footwork will also affect you ability to go shoulder-over-shoulder at contact, a major source of leverage and therefore power. Ask Carly to have a look at either working to get you into a better pinpoint stance or even stay platform
Oh, and listen to Moz - footwork can make the difference.
That'll be £35 please! :)

But the ratings aren't consistent, there are some 8.2 players who are much better than others technically but they can't win matches and vice versa. Just because you play level with a 7.2 doesn't mean you should be one. I used to play with a 2.1 regularly and I would beat him in sets quite a lot, but it never made me think that I should definitely be a 2.1 just because I beat him. Just keep working and don't get too obsessed over rating, playing well and improving is more important. : )

It's good to believe in yourself, I mean you can't really teach it. I have pretty bad self confidence when it comes to tennis due to being put down by coaches at academies etc. But don't get dillusional about your play. You've got be humble aswell in order to improve.
Moz, a professional player
I would describe myself as a full time player rather than professional, in part because I'm way off the standard required, but mainly because the income wouldn't keep an Ethiopian in sandals for a year!
In my experience the people that over achieve have a combination of self-confidence but realism. Meaning they will win against the odds because they have the essential belief that they can do it - i.e. they are not held back from winning a match because they think they do not yet deserve to. But it must also be tempered with honest realism which will help facilitate the optimal development of their game in the parts that need it. It's also prevents you from coming off as a bit of a tosser which is always nice.
Ash - is the £35 an hour including the court time? That's impressively detailed advice you give there. I took up your recommendation on the Jez Green DVD. Some interesting stuff that I have incorporated in my training. The only negative would be that it's delivered in a way that leaves a lot unanswered when coming to design a training program from it.
Guys lets just leave this problem its been going on scince last night so come on new day new start ok. i'm probs gonna hit against the wall today as i fell like i wanna play

Hey Moz
Yeah, the £35 includes the court, i'm nice like that!!!
That was just what jumped out from Pete's video, although he comes across as cocky he genuinely seems to believe he has a chance to make it as a player, so for me those are things he needs to get nailed down pretty quick.
If you look at top players in this age group in the UK they miss rarely when under no pressure. If you look at international 16's they basically never miss, even when pressured. Peter doesn't have time on his side as he's only been playing for 2 years so he needs to play catch up real quick - he's working with an ex player which doesn't automatically mean a great coach. I'd love to see more video from better angles to make a full detailed assessment!!!
Yeah, the Jez DVD gives you a lot of ideas for drills for footwork patterns etc, you need either a PT or a coach to work them into your routine I guess. I tend to go HIIT-monday, Plyometrics & footwork - tues, HIIT - wednesday etc etc through the week, with weights on footwork days for my full time players.
How's the elbow btw? Is the man-bra helping?:)

I have never had a private lesson, but my coach charges £10 haha
Teamtomo

Really?? Is that per hour??
the head coach at my club charges between £20 - £23 and hour or it can go a little more hence the price and the other coach charges £19 - £21 an hour. the head coach is the best technicle coach but he isnt exactly that great in the sessions and might give me a little bit of a hard time and thats why i'm gonna go with the other coach as he's not gonna give me much of a hard time and is as good as the head coach. i'm hoping to be able to get a session with him on saturday next week. hopefully it doesnt snow and the snow melts.
