When I forgot my LTA username and password I called them up and got it somehow.

That sucks. So d'you think the AG 300 is the best option for me?
robertg06
12-08-2008, 10:29 AM
I've never really demoed either. Just try rackets from my friends etc. But I might demo for ***/pro direct.
SaunderS
12-08-2008, 10:36 AM
Whats wrong with the 200?
robertg06
12-08-2008, 10:38 AM
Dunno, but I've used the 300 a few times and it does get some more pop and spin and is more forgiving. I might just wait a little while and then demo some rackets.
robertg06
12-08-2008, 10:42 AM
Yeah and more expensive. I just wanna settle on a racket that completes my game. The 200 ticks every box except that when I play real power stuffing baseliners I struggle to compete with their power and can't hit outright winners sometimes.
find something the same as the 200 but more powerful then.
robertg06
12-08-2008, 10:49 AM
Which is why I'm looking at the 300 :)
they say the 4d's are better versions so if i were you i'd wait untill the 4d's are out.
cool. so seb what racket you getting?
SaunderS
12-08-2008, 11:32 AM

Teamtomo
12-09-2008, 09:21 AM
No, our club does not have any indoor courts, therefore i have NEVER played on an indoor court :(
same here. we would of gotton a buble but thats because we need building premission and we need to ask the neibourghs as well as money.

Well, theres no wind, yeah its warmer, and i play alot better indoors. Yeah the sun doesnt get in your eyes, but with high balls, the lights do.

robertg06
12-09-2008, 10:12 AM
I used to do some training at Riverside Esporta but not anymore :(
no i dont play indoors. i could go to the next town but they only have 2 indoor courts and 10 hard courts outside.
mozzer
12-09-2008, 10:20 AM
I only play tournaments indoors. Every senior league match i play outdoors.

95". My current one is heavier and more headlight. I decided to get lighter as it will hopefully help me in tournaments, but now i cant see that just 10g will make much difference :/
SaunderS
12-09-2008, 11:02 AM
Is there any Esporta in the north?
mozzer
12-09-2008, 12:24 PM
Yeah, not sure they have tennis courts though.
SaunderS
12-09-2008, 12:26 PM

Ooooomg. Why?!
nickb
12-10-2008, 07:36 AM
Nah...that's a vantage...they dont play any where near 70RA. For a start thats unstrung. They play more like 64-66. Specs dont always indicate how a frame plays...KSix-One Tour 90s are 67 strung but they dont play like it.

Never played with a vantage before. Are they any good? Are they expensive?
mozzer
12-10-2008, 09:54 AM
Yeah, i was thinking, i play my current 330g one with full poly and its fine, but i ordered some sets of matrix hybrid for the colder days.
Saunders, in my opinion they play great can serve bombs with it and has greta plow through. But yes they are expencive, but i used a discount code which made it £124 with shipping

12-10-2008, 10:14 AM
It could really give me some power which could be just the difference for me. I would definitely need to demo though as I do get elbow problems serving and sometimes when serving but it's odd because it's not where normal tennis elbow pains come from its more on the inside of the elbow.
mozzer
12-10-2008, 10:24 AM
I have 2 battered old onesfor sale if you are interested. No cracks and have served me very well.

Haha, lol, the think I hate about the hitting wall is that you get no idea of depth or serving or volleying or returns of serves.
yeah. should i send it recorded or special delivery???
robertg06
12-12-2008, 09:16 AM
Recorded so you know that it gets there...you don't wanna lose money
special delivery has tracking on recorded needs to be signed when it gets there.
robertg06
12-12-2008, 09:20 AM
Go with Special Delivery then...It doesn't really matter too much...
yeah also special delivery is a one day thing so it gets there by 1pm on monday seeing as i'm sending it back tomorow. it costs around £6.40 on special delivery.

The big difference between the two is the amount of compensation you can claim if it gets lost in the post.
Recorded delivery is up to £36.
Special Delivery is up to £2500.
yeah i might go with special delivery coz i want up to £500 compensation because after all if i payed £135.99 and it got lost in the post i want those guys to pay me back for it.
SaunderS
12-12-2008, 01:43 PM
why are you sending it back so soon? you have it for 2 weeks.
coz i would of tried it on court and also i want to get the racket before christmas coz then it could be delievered and i wouldnt hasve to wait a long time.

well, if they didnt work, they wouldnt sell them!
ok. hey should i get the racket strung in champ choice or sensation??? i was thinking sensation because of durability but i want champ choice because of the spin from alu power rough.

Why do you keep on changing your mind? First you say your gonna get 2 K90's and then you said your not gonna get the copper super six instead you'll get the free bag and now your saying you dont know if you should get champs choice. If you say your gonna get champs choice then get it

yeah my perents are paying for my k90.i couldnt get another coz i dont have enough money.i was gonna get the copper bag but then saw the k90 deal with a free bag. i might get sensation because it lasts longer. i'll get a reel of alu power to try after afew weeks with sensation strung on.same here my session was also cancled.
robertg06
12-13-2008, 08:43 AM
My friend has a really nice Prestige Classic 600 :) Just thought I'd bring that up, Tofi, how much is it to buy then?
what the racket if its strung with sesation it'll be £150 and if its with champs choice it'll be £160.
mozzer
12-13-2008, 08:49 AM
Why dont you just buy it unstrung and get it strung with what you usually use unless you are going for the federer look...
coz its the first time i pick a proper string to use. i have always had my racket strung with factory strings
Teamtomo
12-13-2008, 09:04 AM

BestLefty UK
12-13-2008, 09:05 AM
Champs choice is definitely gonna be better than sensation. Anyways I have a theory on why he keeps changing his mind and this is what I think: You wanna save money on the racket and thats why your not going for champs choice so it doesn't really matter what we say becuz you'll probably still end up with sensation
BestLefty UK

Thats a good suggestion... PSGD (Prince synthetic gut Duraflex) might be the perfect string for you. Its good for power (which you may have) but not too great for spin (which I don't think you'll get anyway) and overall its a safe bet to try
robertg06
12-13-2008, 09:11 AM
No, I think he changes his mind because he overthinks it, just like me.

That might be true. I do that a lot too but not on every detail about my racket though... anyways hows your racket search going?

theres been all this talk saying that the k90 is a challenging racket etc. i've tried it and its a brilliant racket not challenging or any thing so i know what i'm talking about when i say i'm buying it.also i do tend to put spin on the ball. i'm challenging some one in my ladder league next week. i'll see if i could ask my friend to video me.also the only 2 you can get to chose from are sensation or champs choice. i would take champs choice but it isnt great for durability yet it is good from spin and feel. sensation is good for durabitlity and feel but i'm not sure about spin.

How can you say that? You said you tried it once against a wall and now you think you know the racket like the back of your hand and yes it is a unforgiving racket and you'll soon realise that
Teamtomo
12-13-2008, 09:39 AM
Tofi, you are probably better off with a racket lite the six one lite or the six one team.
Wait, till you play a match with that k90, your arm will fall off.
we'll see about that.i did have a little time on court and i did try it out on court and it didnt seem unforgiving. it was only 20 mins that i had out there with my friend but it still counts. my arm was fine with it. i felt no pain or anything. it didnt feel as heavy as it said.

By the way, those withersonline deals are crazy good, Tecnifibre 325 for £40! and the same price for a Yonex RDS 001!
i can only play grip 3. anyways they are both mind blowing prices.

I have played like 9 tournaments this year, all of them have been 4 game sets. Just think how tired you would be if they were sets to 6 and you play 3 matches. I would expect 6 game sets in grade 4 and above ofcourse though.

That happened to me in the club tournament I had to play 4 matches in 1 day. My first match was short (I battered him ;)) but I had to play the next match straight away against this 9.1 kid beat him 6-2 6-3 then I had to play another match in 30 minutes. I beat the next 9.1 kid but then lost in the final to an 8.2 (7-6 retired)

i've played one 6 game set without breaks in the summer. i was sweating like heck. i have played 3 other 6 game sets in the winter......they tire you out when its hot and have no breaks but in the winter its nothing. i would rather play 6 game sets with breaks in a tourny than play 4 game sets. at least then you get a break. i'm 13 so i guess i'll be able to play in 14 and under tournys. no point calling then 14 and under if 14 year olds cant play in them right??

Really??? A normal 6 game set match should be easy for you if your a tennis player. Playing 1 match is piss easy. And they do the age groups by year not actual age which is pretty much useless, just a way to make it easier for the lazy tournament directors

I had to wait an hour and a half the other week. 4 game matches aswell. It was my first, and was so nervous, even during the warm up. This kid i played was younger and smaller than me, but in the warm up he was hitting great shots. The first game my legs were shaking, and like you Seb, i was afraid to go for good shots, so i put it down the middle. I still won 4-1 4-0. Then after my hour and a half wait, i played this lad who was again younger and smaller than me, but really good. I walked through the first set 4-1, but in the second, he was looking at is dad, who was talking to him(agianst the rules). Then he was doing alot better than the first. I broke his serve every game i think, but he broke mine alot aswell. it went 4-3 to me, but you have to win by 2 games. I know this sounds like im unfit, but i was sooo tired, i was even too tired to split-step. I was so joyed when i won. I even let out a little shout:). i was there for 4 hours, and played two 40min games!

BestLefty UK

The only advice I have for that would be:
1) Lower tension
2) Change to Synthetic gut if you currently play with poly
3) Try and watch the ball more to improve timing
robertg06
12-15-2008, 02:32 AM
Yeah, I've started having private sessions and my coach tells me to hit the ball more in front and it's helped my depth a lot. This is gonna sound extremely newbie, but what's the difference between multis and polys?

Yeah, I've started having private sessions and my coach tells me to hit the ball more in front and it's helped my depth a lot. This is gonna sound extremely newbie, but what's the difference between multis and polys?
Well I don't know the exact science and all that crap but I do know that in terms of playability poly's are:
More uncomfortable than multi's & syn guts
More spin-friendly
Harder to break
Under powered
Whereas multi's & syn gut's are usually:
More comfortable
Less spin (not in some cases)
Go mushy and play crap after a while
Easier to play with
More power
Basically, you have to have the skills to really get something out of poly whereas multi's are more suitable for the average player. Although it is possible to hybrid them, thus getting the required attributes out of both eg.
Blue gear (poly) in mains to get spin/bite on the ball
Tecnifibre Multifeel (multi) in cross to get a bit more comfort and get the required power
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anybody
BestLefty UK
12-15-2008, 08:04 AM
Ok cool, I'll think about this some more next time I get a stringjob done up. Cheers, BLUK :)
I'd suggest a co-poly/multi hybrid (Co-poly is a softer version of poly). Something like Pro Supex Big Ace/Blue gear in mains and then Wilson Sensation/Babolat Xcel or something like that in crosses

That sounds like this little 13 year old kid at my club. I always beat him and he gets all angry and starts taking like 20 minutes in between serves. And then after I beat him, he aims for me when I play doubles with a friend of mine... And I'm like "go for me one more time and I'm gonna start aiming at you " & he like stays quiet for the rest of the match and starts standing at the back instead of the net.

People always start on us as well. My friend and I were playing against this little spoilt kid (you know the ones that act all obnoxious and twattish) and another friendly kid in a league doubles match and the little kid kept hacking and cheating. So I started body-serving him (I know it's evil but still) and he was getting all up in our faces (c'mon-ing as loud as he could and looking at us while he did it)... anyways in the end we won and it was so funny watching the little kid get all angry.

So I started body-serving him (I know it's evil but still) and he was getting all up in our faces (c'mon-ing as loud as he could and looking at us while he did it)... anyways in the end we won and it was so funny watching the little kid get all angry.
I hate playing those. Its like they've been forced into playing. they don't have passion for the game. This guy ws quite good though. He didnt even go to the middle of the net to shake hands after i beat him, i had to go round and do it when i was walking off court. He didnt even say well played or anything!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I hate players that play without a passion.
hey guys. i got this kid at my club and he's a complete dick head. he goes around and puts me off and it pisses me off so much. the other thing is he thinks he's really hard just coz he's taller than me. he's younger than me by 2 years and has no proper pumped up muscle what so ever. luckily he hasnt came to the club in a few weeks.

1) I can see why he might put you off
2) Really... Either he's really tall or your a stump

Tall players are annoying to play against, I prefer short players. High topspin balls to their backhand! :)

I dunno why? But I like to play taller players... I think it's because smaller people give me the feeling of playing down to somebody (like playing against someone weaker than you) whereas taller people make me feel like I'm playing up to somebody

im not much of a stump but he's in year 7 and im in year 9 and he's taller than me. his perents are tall. he puts me off coz of the crap he keeps saying. i know i could beat him because he's a clumsy nob. i think he has some sort of mental problem because he just acts like a dick head. shorter people are easier because they arent as fast(they have shorter legs).

Thats wrong! Shorter people are more agile and able to reach low dropshots and stuff. Taller people usually have slower reflexes, are less agile & are less able to reach stuff like low slices. Just look at the tour whose more agile Nishikori or Karlovic. And whose quicker James Blake or Ivan Ljubicic. Of course there are exceptions such as Gael Monfils and Nadal
