View Full Version : dunlop 300g v. m-fil 300

I currently have the 300g and want some back-ups but considering they are discontinued they are difficult to find at a reasonable price. The new m-fil 300s are comprable in price to a used 300g. Has anyone recently switched from a 300g to a M-fil and if so how is the transition and what are their comparisons and contrasts? Any help would be much appreciated. No where around me sells dunlop or I would demo.

i recall that people with 300g liked the mfil 200 better. maybe not. i suggest demoing the 200 and 300 and decide which one you like. with the 300 u probably have to add some lead tape

Yep, you will have to add lead tape to the 300 most likely if you want it to play the way you want to.. I had to, it was a bit too light for me as stock and when I added lead tape it feels great!

I've seen it go both ways...folks who used the 300g disliking the M-Fil 300, and others liking it. Probably have to demo. I think the M-Fil 300 is going to be a better match for the 300g overall, second likely would be the M-Fil 200 2006.
My personal experience is that the M-Fil 300 is superior to the 300g, but this stuff is obviously very subjective...
Good thread. Even I am considering a change from 300G for the same reason but am confused between M-fil 300 & 200 2006.
Found some good feedback on the M-fil 300 but not much is available on the M-fil 200 2006. Can't TW review this racquet?
No demo system out here, so I have to rely on playtester's feedback.

Don't worry about these 2 frames, aerogel 3 will blow away both of these///

I just speak the truth, TW racket testers have already started demoing the new aerogels and they told me it blows away any and all dunlop frames that had been tested in the past!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

OK, OK...don't worry, I was just kidding you. ;)
I know you're very excited about the new Dunlops, and don't want to rain on your parade. But remember that one man's holy grail can be another's ick stick. I've demo'd sticks that the TW reviewers gushed over and found them not to my taste at all. Also, everyone isn't interested in jumping on the newest technology/gizmo (at the newest price)... :)
I'm going to demo the new Dunlops and if they are significantly better than my M-Fils will get a pair, but we should be sure we don't count any chickens before they hatch...

I think the move from 300G to a mFil300 will work well. I demo'd the 300G several years ago & absolutely loved the feel. However I couldn't get enough pace to play well with it. The mFil300 gives me a similar feel that I like & enough pace to gain control of points & put away winners. The mFil is a bit less head light, but well worth a try.
I will be interested to see what the Aerogels are like, but at the price of the mFil, it is a hard deal to beat
