I can't help it. Since I joined the board in August I've been contaminated with the tennis virus and found no cure from it so far :)

Is that normal or I need to seek a professional help? What to do? I know a few people here have gone through this (I won't reveal the names). How did it end eventually? :)

My firiend, it seems that your problem is having too much money. My professional advice is to forward some to my paypal account :)

I have the same sickness. This year alone I have acquired over 50 rackets. You should check in to RA - Racketoholics Ananomous. See you there!

In the last year I have bought about 10 rackets, but I buy them in qty1. I am not sure why you buy 4 of a certain model when you know it isnt going to be the last one!

I dont feel so bad as long as I sell one for each i buy. I have 5 currently.

I am bored so I will list them.

Yonex rds 003 (what was i thinking)
FXP radical tour (then sold)
Wilson nsix-one 95
Volkl dnx 9
FXP radical tour (i missed it so i rebought! And then sold a month later lol)
mfil 003
m speed pro
pro staff 6.0 95
prestige mid

I think the best of them all was the nsix-one 95, followed m speed pro, in terms of all court play.

OMG!, my wife must see this thread, so she stops complaining about me having too many racquets, hahaha. Just like saqdeez, I have bought around 10 frames lately, also one of each. Im looking for the perfect racquet for my game, so I dont get why you get so many of them. I will do that once I find the holy grail... Besides those are so different from one to another, I just cant see someone playing with a LM Radical and then switching to a PS 85.

No. it's not. If it was it would be a bigger problem. Then I'd load up on all the rare stuff, no limits here :)

I am not sure why you buy 4 of a certain model when you know it isnt going to be the last one!

I agree but it wasn't the intention. The intention is to thoroughly test the best of the classic and popular frames and to find a Holy Grail.

I don't usually buy more than one to try but sometimes I either get it for someone else to try or just get a good deal for multiple frames. So, corrections are made.

You can blame the msg board that is directly affiliated with an online retailer for this problem. I hope that you understand that rackets depend on you to hit the ball, not vise versa.

Otherwise, you need help. Shopping addiction is real.

If you guys have $ burning a hole in your pocket and love tennis, how about donating some racquets or $ to a local program...I'm sure there are lots of kids who would love to benefit from your problem. :)

I am having a similar problem, although I did not buy as much as you did. Just this past weekend I thought of two things to help myself (not to buy again).

1. Leave a negative feedback about myself so no one would want to deal with me.

2. Add a post saying I would pay any seller an extra $50 if we agree on a deal.

Of course these won't work. :-(

Going to browse the FS section now! ;-)

Just curious, out of the Head Prestige (mid) models you've acquired or hit with which one did you like the best?

Right now it's a tie between PC 600 and Spalding ATP Tour Pro Stock 200 (Prestige mold), followed by LMP, FXP and i.Prestge. Honestly, they all play very different despite the similar shape and look. I don't know why they have the same name.

The question is, have you spent adequate time with all of them? You could probably sell the ones you don't like and get some cash to continue the spree :)

HAHAHA, these are very creative solutions. I've been trying to stay away from FS forum but that's the first thing I check every morning followed by the auction site (haven't bought ANYTHING there yet) and other FS places on the net.

Luckily, it's cost-prohibitive for me to buy single frames, over-priced rarities and I can't stand poor quality. So, that narrows down my choices a bit. :)

I do play almost everyday and carry at least 4-5 different frames with me. So, all my purchases are thoroughly tested (including for the stated string tension, cracks and so on).

I do have frames listed for sale at all the times, too at different places. Currently raising some cash for Xmas. PLS, HELP :)

Yo need to add a couple POG OS, PS 6.0 95, PS 6.1 95, PK Redondo, Yonex RDS 001, some Babolats, volkls, dunlops, and you got yourself enough racquets to start a store.

Ok, I'll get a Redonto from your list. As for the store, many of you guys are missing my point. It's not about getting all the good racquets. I'm pretty much getting just the best mid-sized frames that suit my game.

I think i'm about 75% finished. Don't care for OS frames, Babolats, volkls, fischers, dunlops Don't like the color of RDS 001.

So, who else was in a similar situation? What did you end up doing? I've seen some guys unloading their entire collection and leaving just the few chosen sticks.

I posted the racquet here after I got it and ppl said there is nothing special about it. It looked nice on my wall and played very smooth but the OS head is too big and light for me. Why do you think it's a gem?

Why do you think it's a gem?Oh. Guess I was thinking of the Mid+(if there is such a thing!). I thought I read that they were rare and coveted by the people who use them and are always looking for more. I know one dude in real life who introduces himself to anyone he meets on the court by asking if they know where more can be found. He's desperate!

Disregard all previous advice and/or comments. I am a certified doctor for this disease, and i ensure you that i will get you through it.

First, breathe. Then, buy two mfil 300's. Those will slow you down as they are great and you won't want anything for at least another month.

While you withdraw, just send me a racquet a week. If things start to get better, increase the dosage to two a week. ONLY if you feel that you are ready though. I totally want the focus of the treatment to be on my patients.

Let me know how it goes and when you wish to begin treatment.

LOL that's quite a feat. So how do you find time to play with them all? IMO I would get like 3 of 3 different racquet, so 9 all up. That's a satisfying number.

Well, you must be a pro and know what you want :)

My goal is to enjoy the game and maybe win a few tournaments eventually with a good stick but this is a collection on top of my search for a Holy Grail.

Here's how ideally I wanted it to be
(ALL THE BEST MID-SIZE PLAYERS' FRAMES 85-93 si):

Head Prestige (all mid-sized releases incl. Pro/600/Tour, etc) 2x each
Wilson PS/HPS/N/K 85/90 (all mid-sized releases incl SV/Chicago, etc) 2x each
Yonex (all mid-sized releases) 2x each
POG Mids 2x each
Dunlop 200G, other mid-sized releases 2x each
some other thin & mean particular frames like Spalding ATP Tour Pro Stock 200, Wilson Hammer 5.5 Spin, certain Puma, Donnay.

I'm open to good suggestions but I don't go for names/OS frames like Agassi's or Kafelnikov's as long as the racquet fits my specs (under 93si, over 12oz, under 20mm thin).

ty, all.

Rafaello send me a few of those wilson prostaffs and n90s! You will feel better afterwards. I wish I had that many, but I would have 5 n90's 5 ps6.0's and 5 mf200's instead of like 20 different racquets. Hope you find a holy grail. Best of luck!

Start selling them off and use this saved money to take some tennis lessons. You'll tend to stay with one type of racket and improve in the process. I find people are always changing sticks looking for the "holy grail". Lessons and practice r it. If Fed practices then so should we!

you need to calm down and take some decisions. most important ones are, in this order:

- what lenght do you like playing with
- what headsize do you prefer
- what weight do you like
- what swingweight/balance
- what stiffness do you like
- what string density

Otherwise you will end up like me with a bunch of expensive racquets that you will never play again with.

Trust me, I know, the most annoying thing is that I have racquets in different lenght so it messes up my game everytime I switch between them.

I've now stopped that and I'm concentrating on playing with one racquet, POGLB and I feel that I'm improving.

And I've stopped buying other racquets, but POGLB. So now I'm, buying only one new POG LB/month. I saved a lot.

Thanks, that would still be a difficult task. I'm still deciding between 4 n90, 4 PS85 and a few PC 600. There are all different and awesome frames. And then comes Spalding ATP and RDX 500. What do you do? ... sigh ...

2 ionutzakis:

Good point, man. I didn't think about it in these terms. I play not with the specs but with whatever feels comfortable for me. So here you go:

- what lenght do you like playing with? STANDARD.
- what headsize do you prefer? 85-90
- what swingweight? OVER 400g LEADED
- what stiffness do you like? IDEALLY UNDER 60
- what string density? THIS IS A TOUGH ONE. IT DEPENDS. OPEN ON 85/90, TIGHT ON 93, I GUESS. :)

whatever, you say you are looking for the best playing racquet and the quickly dismiss the RDS001 because the color disagrees with you... you are entitled to that opinion, but that is a silly reason not to try it. when you are all consumed with your endless quest for the Holy Grail... just remember, the RDS001 was right in front of you .. and you rejected it!

The real question is do you actually play with them?

I assume you string your own racquet because if you don't then your stringer should buy you a nice present for the holidays, another racquet of course. So remind him.

If you play with them you are ok, if not then you are kind of weird.

Thank God, I avoided being called weird b/c I did play with every one of them.

Amazing...most if not all of those racquets has a unique story behind it...where/when/how it was manufactured, the original owner's joy of acquiring it, his/her practice and matchplay experiences with it, etc.

Otherwise, nice decorum! An alternative method of hanging the racquets would be to alternate them handles up vs handles down. As you get more racquets, the HU and HD method would allow you to hang the racquets in an interlocking pattern to make room for more of them.

Noticed you don't have any Wilson T2000 in the collection. This is a glaring ommission in your collection considering the T2000's role in racquet history.

Finally...sorry for doing this to you considering your current "hobby" was started with a visit to the forums...I'm going to post links to forums that specialize in exotic cars, planes, yachts, and women! So, you better start looking for the real estate that has a huge garage, near or adjacent to the ocean, near an airport, and has a grotto in the basement for the women (no...you don't hang the women on the walls of your house!).

I'll be playing tomorrow night and will follow up with a small review, although Craig has done a wonderful job reviewing the sticks. I play with LM Prestige Mp so hitting with the new stick will be a new experience. I used to use n6.1 95 18x20 and had to switch to the Prestige because of the Wilson was too harsh. The string job feels very nice, but I still hate the way strings look on the side of the frame with two piece stringing. Now if the can fuse natural gut and alu into a continuous piece............yeah
