View Full Version : What is so great about natural gut?

I have been playing with Prince Pro Blend about a year and a half and haven't found anything wrong with it. What is it about natural gut that makes it so different from the other strings on the market? What does it provide that other strings don't.

Natgut blows all the strings away.

superior feel , suepriol control , unfortunatly minimum durability and high price
Prince Pro Blend is like the other end of the spectrum. If you like it and you obviously get the highest in durability (probably break the crosses before the mains), you would just find natural gut too expensive.
Unless, you're looking for a softer stringbed......

Gut holds tension better, is one of the most arm friendly strings, has the best feel and playability, good power but also great control, good spin and ball pocketing, etc etc etc. It really is the best, but as others have said, it's expensive and in an open pattern/bigger head sized racquet it's not too durable.

I thought that a lot of ppl think that some synthetics are near putting nat. gut out of buisness....

In my experience, polys have way more control than natural gut. Natural gut has the power, feel and tension retention so if you can control it and play with the knowledge that there is more control available in other strings, go for it(if you can afford it).

i love natural gut for unbelievable comfort, playabililty, and power. although, it lacks in durability and doesnt offer the best control.
