A player must be ranked in what position (approximately) to have a pj raqcuet? Or any sponsored player can have one?

i don't think every sponsored player gets a PJ otherwise we would have seen the Grosjean paintjob long ago instead Head have just did it after agassi retired ...
about the top 50 or so maybe a little more get a PJ or players with huge influence in their areas like Srichapan in asea for instance ..

Yeah your right. I don't really see the point though, it's not like people are going to see a college player playing with a frame and think "Ahh I must go out and buy that exact racket!"
I can understand them doing it for commercial reasons with the big name players but not with college players.

I can see why some college players have paintjobs. I have gone to matches and loved the sound of a player's racquet, and have wished I could produce that same sound. But I can see where you're coming from. College tennis is no where close to the ATP or WTA commercially.

Guys..it's about saturation of the market place.
If you see wilsons everywhere you go, from pro's, coaches, college players, top juniors you'll be more likely buy the brand just to be like everyone else. What can i say, people are sheep.
There's no "hard" cutoff for a pj. The more exposure you're likely to the get, the better chances of aquiring a pj. Of course pj arn't that cheap, so you do have to come up with a decent case for one.

I think it depends on the amount of exposure the company thinks you'll get as to how much attention they give you. For instance, if Anna K wants to switch to Wilson, and she's agreed to play a certain number of exhibitions, I'm sure they'd give her about anything she wanted.

The college players that you see with paint jobs are those that are playing in larger tournaments and often are on the verge of gathering ATP points and are at the beginnning stages of a "paid" racket contract. This is very sensitive to the NCAA and amateur status regulations.
