mixing slice and 2hb

i think i asked about this a year and a half ago.....

but wondering what pro's mix 2HB drive/topspin with 1HB slice.....

2HB is excellent shot, but i think you give up alot not hitting slice backhand....

does anyone hit both? any pro's i can look to.... i remember wilander maybe hit both... anyone else?? and i don't mean completely defensive on the slice.

Dude, if you're asking what pros hit both a two handed backhand and a 1 handed slice shot...every single one of the two handed backhand pros do! With maybe the exception of 1 or two. Look at Roddick, Agassi, Safin, and tons more. Listen, every single pro has a slice in his or her arsenol.

Agreed. Safin and Roddick's match had plenty of examples of slice being used to set up and maneuver.

I can't think of a single 2HBH pro who doesn't hit a 1HBH for slice and defensive shots.

In fact, I'd like to learn the 1HBH myself to add more variety to my game. I do it out of desperation now, but I've no idea what I'm doing so I only do it for emergencies.

Yeah, I'm sorry to say this, but the 1hbh slice shot is a necessity for any pro...whether they hit a 2 handed backhand drive or a 1 hander. It's used for so many things.

The slice can be used for defense in order to get the ball back. It's also used to mix things up to maybe throw off the rhythm of the opponent. And, it is definitely used as an approach shot if the opponent has hit a short ball or something like that. You can really attack the net when this approach slice is hit right. Watch Roddick! He uses his 1hbh slice A LOT! It's huge in his arsenal of weapons. He's mastered it and can use it effectively at will. And so can most pros that use the 2 handed backhand drive shot.
