View Full Version : Gut and Drizzle?
I would like to try gut, however it's not uncommon to play with intermittent light rain. Would this hurt the gut?
Thanks, Jim

Oh yeah! Keep it dry! Even though most guts have a protective coating, humidity and moisture affect it greatly! It is a good idea to treat gut with Carnuba wax, parafin, or baby oil after playing. Then store the racquet in a dry, thermal controlled environment. If you might be playing under conditons of intermittent rain, take an extra racquet along with some soft, multifilament synthetic strings -- strung at a tension to adjust the playabilty to your #1 racquet to pull out in those conditions. Gut will snap in humid and wet conditions.
Second that...if it drizzles, use your synthetics!
