He adpat the 'Jay Burger' service motion right after he switch from Donnay to Head at Wimbly 1993, for a short while

it that's because of the racquet or injury, as I recall he had a terrible first half of 1993

I think that was the new motion he was using for a while, after the wrist surgery he had.

yes, for a while he tinkered with his service motion after the wrist injury and subsequent surgery.

Jay Berger used a full "backscratch" start position. Agassi inthe clips is just using an abbreviated motion, which is actually very similiar to how Pat rafter and now Roddick serve.

Agassi was certainly one not afraid to try something new. Sampras on the other hand...

An interesting thing happenned when he served that way, he actually cracked the top 5 fastest serve that year. Make you wonder about all this motion, is it really necessary, or does it actually hinder the power to some out? I just saw a clip when Federer won the junior wimbledon, his serve motion has changed as well, he is way more abbreviated now.
How about monfils' serve? Just a thought.

He was using the abreviated motion due to either the ongoing wrist injury he had at the time, or it may have been a shoulder, pretty sure it was the wrist though. He had skipped the French that year due to the injury, but didn't have the surgery until Dec of 1993.

I think Agassi's serve was under-rated. He didn't serve a bunch of aces, but he had great placement and fantastic spin. He was a master at using his serve to set up the points. CC
