My friend is trying to put a team together. My other friend is a non-D1 ex-collegiate player. Is there a minimum NTRP he has to rate himself at? It's been over 15 years and he's definitely not the player he used to be.

Probably bare minimum is 4.0 unless there have been injuries. also was he on a Top 10 National Team or did he have a National Ranking?

That I don't know. It's all mixed doubles though. 7.0, could that right?

Since he is new to USTA, he will need to go through the program. Make sure he answers correctly.

According to the office self-rating guideline

http://dps.usta.com/usta_master/usta/doc/content/doc_13_7372.pdf?12/20/2005%205:08:52%20PM

He should be self-rating at least a 4.0 for a non-D1, non-D2/D3 top ranked college, if he is over 36, and 4.5 if he isn't. If he doesn't agree with the rating, he needs to submit a self-rating appeal (if the program sets him to 4.5) to explain why he feels he should be at the lower NTRP.

If he tries to self-rate as a 4.0 without going through the process, a self-rating grievance can be filed and he will be suspended for withholding information.

Self Rate as 4.0, tell him to lose a few matches so he gets a 4.0 computer rating. Then go on a blitz the next season.

LOL ... now there have been a few teams that I've coached where I thought the women could have been men.
