one thing i have figured out from experience-- don't use amber or brown colored lens sunglasses when playing-- you get less contrast between background and the tennis ball so you lose perception when tracking the ball-it has to do with the wavelength filtered by the amber or brown lens and the yellow color of the tennis ball. use a 'true color' neutral gray lens for best contrast and visual acuity. probably some of you already know this.
Although many of us wear "regular" dark sunglasses, many seem to like the "greenish" lens specifically developed for tennis. Its ok indoors but, for me anyway, way too bright outside. However, I'm seeing more and more sporting the greenish jobs.

the green ones are said to magnify the contrast of the felt. i use brown/amberish sunglasses and dont have a problem. they're maui jim's ultra polarized ones tho so that might make a difference.

I don't like wearing sunglasses while playing, they seem to throw off my game and reduce contrast.

Bolle' makes a lens specifically for softball and tennis where the Optic Yellow, 'pops'. I have tried them on in the store, but not on the court. They're OK but I am not into glasses of any kind so never bought a pair.
One thing though, the teal lens limits red so they are NOT FOR DRIVING, since you might miss brake lights...

i hate wearing them too but there are time when serving where you almost have to, the cap doesn't do the job, sometimes i'll even take them off during a point after i serve, kind of risky cause i've dropped them before

Forget the Bolle sunglasses for tennis. Got them, didn't like the feel on the face.
But I *DO* like the Bolle Anacondas for general wearing.

I wera the Bolle 'competivision' lenses (green lens specifically for tennis) even when it's not too sunny. They make the tennis ball so much clearer and I find that I track the ball better. I hardly notice them on my face except when sweat gets on the lens. Like LuckyR says, they're definitely not for driving!
With the Bolle's that I have they inter-changeable lenses so I have the green for tennis, sandstone for golf (they relly show the white ball and make the terrain clearer) and the normal grey lenses for driving.
They a thumbs up for me!:-D

I have the Bolle Parole's and one of my interchangible lenses is the competivision. Bottom line: I like the glasses but not the competivision lenses. The glasses are very light, almost flimsey, and stay on well, however I just can't get used to the green lenses. Of course, I hate to play with any kind of glasses on but when I do have to wear them I've had much better results with the gray Bolle lenses than the competivision ones.
