For Me it's Nike Air Oscillates & the Barricade II - nothing beats BII durability . But AO's are great low match day shoes.

But the Barricade II's were never discontinued so it doesn't need to be "reintroduced". There are still several color choices readily available here at TW and elsewhere.

Also the Nike Air Oscillates have been reintroduced, several months ago:

I don't recall the name, but they were Nike's.
They had some kind of ugly green KEVLAR sole.

The Nike swoosh was green.

It had a sun like symbol on the back of the heel and the inside of the shoe had some kind or ridges...they felt awesome.

The shoe was a bit heavy (made of all leather). They made at least two styles that I know of. Does anyone remember the name? I had a pair until I moved to my new home (April 05)...now I can't find them!!!!

Never saw the Sweep, but I loved the Air Max˛ Spa, along with the Courier shoes from the same time period, and later the Air Court Motion. In fact, just about a year ago I found a couple of pairs of Air Court Motion in colors I hadn't before seen. One pair is all white with white "EKG line," the other all black with silver line. Here is my Air Court Motion shrine. In the lyrics of Michael Jackson, it don't matter if your Air Court Motion shoes are black or white.

the nikes with the kevlar and the beefy green sole were the air resitance 2's. courier shoe. and actually, sampras did wear the air max sweep for a bit. wore them at wimbledon when he first signed with nike, if i recall. he quickly switched as they were too high off the ground for him and i think he had foot problems. he wore either his old sergio's or wilson pro staffs with the logo covered for a while. then wore a low end nike shoe (air repete?) until the oscillates were introduced. sweet shoes i'd like to see re-introduced would be the air tech challenge II, but not in the very popular white/black/pink colorway. they looked way better in the white/teal/orange miami dolphins color. sweet.

seventies: adidas Stan Smith...Ilie Nastase. Diadora Borg Elite? Borg Pro? Borg signature. I forgot the name, but I had a pair for one season. I'd get a few pairs to wear with jeans or casual shorts if they came in brown, blue suede, charcoal or tan.

1980s. Anyone remember the Pro Kennex PK Mesh? Gum rubber on the bottom. Great fit, perfect feel, herringbone tread. Did not last on hardcourts, but man, were they great.

Late nineties and early oo's. I used to like the Fila Rad and Rad2. They were just as good as the adidias FYW incentives, only with a better outsole. Low, responsive, flexible in the right places.

Early oo's. Diadora Rebound Ace. Guga wore them. Fit my feet perfectly. Blown rubber soles, though, so they did not last.

Now: Babolat. Any model. I used to dislike Babolat, except for the gut. But, now I'm a convert. At least to their synthetic strings and definitely I'm diggin' their footwear and their leather grip. I'd get ten of them if the shoes came in a color like the grips.

Two of my favorite choices from the semi-distant past:

From the late 70's, how about the Adidas Tom Okker? Had these in high school (1979), and I thought they were head and shoulders above everything else at the time.

From the early 90's, how about the Diadora Duratech 750? I believe that was the model. I always called them the Miami Dolphin shoes, because they had the aqua and orange trim. Great combination of support, comfort and durability.

Air Zoom Pounce

The ones with the tiny stripes toward the top of the shoe (near the ankles).
They have to squarish blue colored blocks on the outside of the shoes. They also have some weird circular type plasticy thing near the ankle. I had an older version (green soled) and I don't think it was called the Air Pounce.
The sole was made of a kevlar material. Are you sre this is the shoe's name...POUNCE. In the pic it has long laces. They have a leather upper. Please post a pic of the shoe we are talking about. I had one and I can't find them.....:-(

Its a summary of agassi's shoes, pics would really help a lot

Hey balongbalong, thanks. I loved tennis in the 80s and 90s and pretty much purchased every Agassi shoe from the Air Tech Challenge II on. I don't have the Air Zoom Challenge 1 and 2, Air Alarm, and the Air Challenge Huarache anymore cause they weren't exactly the prettiest Nike's out there. And in some of the pics I did have the Sampras shoes... Air Oscillate, Air Oscillate II, Air Oscillate SE, Air Resistance, Air Resistance II, Air Duration, Air Duration II, Air Max Astound All (which I can't find anymore)... and numerous others. Yea, I liked that Air Assailant. I had the all white pair and I don't know if I sold them or just lost them. Ugh... I have too many of them. As I've said before... college can make people buy anything. :)

Sure! You can add my pics. I'll try to take some more organized pics of my shoe collection. Sorry they're all over the place but when I have so many I just threw them on the floor to take pics. I'll do better next time. Just gimmie a few days.

Hi Balongbalong,I have a few pictures too, if you want to use them
I have had almost all the models that Agassi wore in the nineties, but unluckily I haven't kept them
In these pictures you'll find the "Air Zoom Beyond" ( that I am using on the clay here in Italy) and the "Air Zoom Beyond plus "( still new, never used)
Hope you will like them
Do you know if some Agassi model will be retroed this year?

Comfortable, yes, but they had no lateral support whatsoever because the leather was too soft, like glove leather, and the cushioning and soles in the forefoot were way too thin. I always felt like my feet were going to roll over when I stopped abruptly going side to side.

Oh, well I've never had any kind of ankle problems, so that wasn't an issue. I also thought they had really good cushioning all around. However, for me, the soles didn't last very long - I always wore a hole in the sole right under my two big toes. Of course, that's where I always wear my shoes out first!

would love to get another crack at the air zoom ablaze (1997). had a chance to get multiple pairs of these in three different colorways at marshall's when they were disc. don't think they sold particularly well as agassi was at his lowest point right about that time. sick shoes, though.

They do feel about the same. The Flare 2000 does have a different sole, it looks like they made it for clay, but all in all they are comparable. The Air unit in the heel is their regular air unit, didn't change, and wasn't too sure if they ever put an air unit in the front. I guess I could cut it up but that will never happen. I do prefer the older Flare as the sole "feels" sturdier.

As far as the Agassi's go, my fave is a tie between the Implosion, Beyond, and the LWP Challenge II.
The Ablaze was nice but the material used for the sole, a clear rubber, was not good and wore out fast, and would chip off. The Air Zoom Challenge and Challenge II had the same problem.

The Babolat All-Courts are now going to come in white, I hear from a teaching pro I know.
White with black, he said.

You cats may have already known that. On some level, I did, too, as I saw Ginepri or (maybe it was Roddick) sportin' them this past fall.

has anyone seen the air flare retros in person yet? i've seen them on the auction site and on nike.com and eastbay. the ones on the auction site had the swoosh on the side facing toward the front of the shoe (like the air flare 2000), but the pics on the nike site and eastbay have the swoosh facing toward the heel of the shoe (like the original). anyone know what real retros have? also, i find it funny that the nike site can't even get it right as to when agassi wore the originals. it says "made famous at the 1995 u.s. open" when he wore them at the '94 open.

I cast my vote for the Adidas Grand Prix, circa 1982-1988, basic white, perforated Nubuk toe area, blue polyurethane outsole, white poly midsole. Ground them down to the bone after one week of hardcourt play, but what comfort and clean good looks. Nobody would mistake you for a G-style punk 'Baller Stunna or anyone else whose subcultural group might end in the letter Z.

I bought some examples of the high-topped variant of this shoe in Germany in the late 80's (the "Tennis Spezial") while playing clay there. I next travelled back to California for the summer seasons and got laughed off the court... admittedly the "exchange student" look was lost in translation. But even so, I'd take them any day over some synthetic leather (OK, let's just admit once and for all that these modern high performance synthetic leather tennis shoes are actually made of VINYL - remember when only cheap $9.99 shoes from Payless Shoe Source were vinyl? Sucka!) modern Nikes.

I think Adidas did re-issue the Grand Prix for a very brief moment in the late 90's. I picked up a pair at a suburban mall in northern California, but by the time the toe wore through one month later (ah, nostalgia), they were NLA...

Some of those Superga kicks baby Lendl wore (the Italian shoes with Pirelli soles who cost some ungodly sum like $200/pair back in 1981) might be nice to re-experience, and I kinda/sorta like the white and grey Nike cross-trainers (version 1.0) that Wilander wore that one summer that he almost kicked everyone's butt. The special super biomechanically-designed, top o' the line Le Coq Sportif shoes (c. 1986) that were endorsed by Yannick Noah were also nice looking, felt great, performed well and are worthy of bringing back to the marketplace for me to blow my money on. Did I mention they were nice looking?

Seems to me like after 1988, tennis shoes started looking really silly and are only getting worse.

Le Coq Sportif -- the ones with some mesh on them. White with royal blue roosters and a boat-ish looking toe. Ashe and Noah wore them. So did I (early 80s). I'd wear them casually now, especially if they re-issued them in brown or black like a retro soccer boot. But still meshy.

I had some of those, c. 1986, mid-tops. White with navy sole and Sporting Chicken emblem. Mesh as far as the eye could see, aft of the suede strip on the toe. Nice shoes, indeed, but I will eternally be filled with mirth as to why the symbol of French athletic might and prowess is the menacing silhouette of a piece of poultry! (perhaps a Francophile can enlighten us on this).

This thread is mostly pie in the sky, but Diadora actually does re-introduce some old styles (like what Borg, Becker, Courier, Goran and Guga once wore) so maybe we just drop a hint for some more Rebound Aces......brown and blue, off-white with black, white with a lot of gray and blue, or a red/wh/blue number.

My votes are Nike Vapor Speed and Nike Vapor V. Nike steadily increased the price on shoes lol.
Cage 1-110
cage 2-115
ballistec1.3, 2.3 - 120
balllistec 3.3- 125

I only buy them on clearance now if thats any deal at all

Yes, like the retro Jordans...then nobody is buying, and they all end up in factory stores...

Bata Bullets and Tennis Trails. Kidding. Too many of you don't even know them - think wooden frame era.

I'd like to see early Vapors and, corny as the name is, Wilson's Scram Jets.

I don't remember ever seeing them at the outlet stores in recent years...

16-18 yrs ago. Had the shoe Andre wore when he won Wimbledon in 92 in every size for $5-10. No one wanted them with that nubby grasscourt sole. Really comfy, light shoes from the days before the Nike Resistance with 6 mos guaranty.

100% agree on the LWP. I found a pair of the white about 18 months ago. Played a few times with them. Alot different then I remember. Zero cushion...but badass.

Yeah the LWP's were the most comfortable, literally fit like a glove, I actually STILL wear a pair as my daily walk around shoes (keep the laces lose so i can slip them on/off), id play in them but they are 1/2 size to big, and id rather not wear them out, but if they reintroduced the Black/COPPER ones id be ALL OVER it!

This is Nike Air Anticipate (very nice!): collection Fall/Winter 1998..........The colour of the collection Spring/Summer 1998, was: White-Red-Black

Good memory..these would be my choice to bring back too. I would also nominate the Nike air assailant which Agassi wore. Nike was really on point in 98.

I would like to have a brand new pair off McEnroe's Nike Air Zoom Tennis Trainers.

I have the new version made three years ago though they do not feel the same.

Vapor 6

Hands Down.

No way. Those were WSOAT by far for me, although I have feets as wide as elephance. So far 2K10s have been best for me, or 1.3s/2.3s with the Uni Tongue cut out. Although the Uni Tongue cutting is a dead shoe only modification, as my 1.3s are clay exclusive now. BCII's were a bit meh, and the Vapor IVs would be way too narrowe for mi now.

Yeah but durability was terrible, no? Granted the 2K10s had same outsole but they had greater cushioning and moar breathabilitylungs. I like the V7's as they're much wider and comphier than the VI's, And the outsole looks to be slightly better. I think most popular shoe I've seen is either Cage 2's or the Ballistec range, although Barricades seem like a popular 'standard' shoe, as I see those everywhere.

I'm kicking myself for not gobbling up another pair of these b4 they were replaced. The tread is going on my only pair so I'll have to settle in on remaining dull colors in 306s and then move to nice new 307s in gold!

Yonex 305's. Great shoe. Then they went to the muuuucccchhhh narrower, poorly ventilated 306.

Never used 305s so I don't know about fit. I play on hc in FL and have no problems with ventilation, even w/2 pair socks and an ankle sleeve.
