What happens if you wash Dri-Fit stuff with fabric softener?

The tags say you shouldn't. So what happens to it if you do?

I've NEVER used fabric softener, but I do use Arm and Hammer color safe bleach or any of their other detergents, then ALWAYS hang-dry the clothes. They always seem to keep their newness the longest. Never use the dryer to dry your dri0fit stuff. It takes the newness out much quicker. And if your like me and you like your stuff looking brand new for as long as possible never use the dryer. Later
