Can someone please point me to a good thread or website for a description of the various grips? I've done some searching on TW message boards and the web, but I can't seem to find a clear and easy-to-understand guide to each one. Photos would be nice, but it's not critical as long as the descriptions are easy to follow.
i.e....
- Western forehand?
- Semi-western forehand?
- Eastern forehand?
- Continental?
- Backhand grip?
- Western backhand?
- Semi-western backhand?
- Eastern backhand?
- Other?
- Are any of the forehand and backhand grips the same where you just hit one side of the strings for forehand and the other side for backhand? (i.e. Continental?)
- Are any of the forehand and backhand grips the same where you don't change your grip and you only hit with one side of the string bed?

Go HERE. (http://www.tennis.com/yourgame/gear/general/general.aspx?id=649)
I'm 45 and just getting back into tennis because my 15 y.o. daughter wants to play on her high school team next year. It's quite eye-opening to see how intense people are about the sport, but now I'm addicted again.

Lindros: This has been discussed at length in this message board and doing a search will help you with dozens of threads (with pictures). The 'Grip Guide' in this link is also informative --- http://www.tennis.com/yourgame/instructionarticles/index.aspx

I'll take a look at the links that both of you provided. Thanks. As far as searching through the TW threads, I was unable to find a thread that covered each grip. If I searched for 'western grip', then yes, I was able to find a description, but I couldn't find several grips all organized together in one thread. Thanks again for the links, I'll take a look. If you know of any other resources, or if you could point to the "good" threads, I'll be sure to check back here.

Great link! Thanks.
So did I interpret this correctly:
If a player uses the Western Forehand Grip (where his base knuckle of his index finger is on the bottom of the racquet), then he doesn't need to readjust his grip at all for a backhand shot if he uses an Eastern backhand grip (since the Eastern backhand grip has the base knuckle on the top of the racquet). He only needs to flip his hand like a windshield washer depending upon which side the ball comes to. -- and he's hitting with the same side of the string bed for all of his groundstrokes.
Is that correct?
Is that what Nadal does?
From reading the descriptions, I currently use an Eastern forehand grip and an Eastern backhand grip. Essentially, each of my strokes are "one bevel off" of the Continental. My forehand is one bevel further to the right and my backhand is one bevel further to the left (as compared to the Continental Grip).
