Hey guys, I'm 14 years old, I'm new to Tennis, I've heard a lot since my dad is a Instructor at a local Tennis Club, But my dad likes to challenge me for some reason and makes me look up my own Stuff, so here are some questions for you guys. (Sorry if this is in the wrong section)

1) How do you find out your grip size and what not and how do you Identify it?

2) How do you know what weight your string tensions are on a pre-stringed racket or can you only identify this on one you want to get stringed? how can you identify and strings and what types are good for you?

3) Does gript tape effect your game or is it there so you have a better grip or for style.

Thanks, I'm really at the basics but since it has been raining for a week and I started 'bout a week ago I've just read books on Tennis, so I know the basics and am maybe at a 1.5 level.

Thanks in Advance! ^_^

My dad believes that if i learn how to do things on my own I'll be better, but I think its just an excuse for him being a lazy bum

1. For grip size: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/LC/Gripsize/Gripsize.html
2. You basically can't tell the string tension on a pre-strung racket. For more info http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/LC/RacquetStringTerms.html. Basically, I would recommend to use softer string first(e.g. synthetic gut, multi), a lot of beginners or experienced players got tennis elbow from using poly string.
3. If by tape, you mean overgrip... Overgrip gives you a better grip of the racket handle and absorbe sweat.

OUTSTANDING!!! I'm a little annnoyed with your dad, too.

Overgrips (thin) typically go on top of replacement grips (thicker) and what's best for you is completely up to you - whatever you like the feel of. Some are more like cloth (Tournagrip) while others are more tacky like high traction rubber (Prince Duratac).

It's really hard to know what's up with an old string job, but if you get your stick restrung, I'd say put in 16 ga synthetic gut at two pounds above the middle of the recommended tension range. Now you have a reference, but the strings may be just right for you right there.
