What racquet tricks do you do? Can you explain how to do them?

Like Blake's flip-spin around his hand or simply Federers bounce with edge of the frame or ...

BTW, I think the true measure of person's skill is not their second serve or footwork but the racquet control required to do tricks ;-)

I have chipped a tooth on a forehand follow through. Done by using no unit turn or shoulder rotation and arming the ball with a big break of the elbow.

I have also given myself a black eye and gashed my shin with my racquet (following through on a serve) but I did not note the exact technique I used.

One of the neatest trick shots I have seen is by a guy I know who is a great squash player. If you volley a ball behind him on his backhand (ie the opposite side to the way he is moving) which he cannot reach he will play an airshot missing the ball while pirouetting 180 degrees (to be facing back fence) and then hit a blind backwards shot back over the net. First time I saw it I had the point down as won and had dropped my guard and just could not react as the ball sailed back passed me for a winner. I was speechless for about 5 minutes.

I can lay the racquet across the top of my foot (with heal down and toe in the air), and then fling it up (so it twirls), and catch in my hand. When its laying accross my foot, I use my shin to "catch" the handle of the racquet, which makes it flip up.

I like to put my index finger on the bottom of the racquet handle where the brand logo is and then spin it on my finger like a basketball.

Also I will have a ball on the strings and flick the ball about 20 feet in the air and then catch it back on the strings without it bouncing, people always look amazed but it really is not hard at all, just got to have some touch.

I just tested both of your tricks out, I like em!

Sometimes when I'm angry I throw my racquet to the ground making it spin half a round, so it first hits the ground with the head and then the grip end. And then it bounces straight up in my hand again:p

I bounce the ball on the side of the racquet (not the strings) about 20 times in a row. Or I just hold the handle, flip the racquet in the air, and catch it at the handle again. A new one I just tried today was hold the handle of the racquet in my right hand, toss it behind my back and catch it with my left hand. :D

When practicing and we have to pick up the balls or I have to wait until its my turn to do a certain drill I almost always bounce a ball on the edge of the frame.
My record is somewhere in the mid 40s, can't remember the exact number of times anymore but I´m very proud of it.

I do this thing with my racquet and a ball during a point where I hit a shot that my opponent can't get to.

i can bounce the ball with the frame of my racquet.... 7 times!

i usually balance my racquet with one foot and I can do it for 30 seconds (if you don't think 30 seconds is long... think again).

Hey, can you teach me to do that? I've been trying to do it for years, and it just isn't working out like I thought it would!

I balance the racquet upside down on the end of my index finger with my left hand, and spin a tennis ball basketball style on my right hand. I then, while being blindfolded and swallowing a burning sword, toss the ball and the racquet in the air so that the racquet spins and hits the ball over the net for a 100mph serve. (and yes, I know the serve is illegal - of course you're not allowed to have a burning sword on court during a competition match!). Sorry, I'll stop now, I just love the exaggerated oneupmanship of threads like this....

Jokes aside, some guy on a joke-tv show here passed his entire body through a racquet frame, didn't look bigger than about a mid-plus or smaller-oversize!

LOL

I can catch a ball with my racket...
Sometimes I throw my racket up so that it does a couple of back flips, and catch it at the handle again, but I'm not sure if that's a trick. =P

Before I had my prestige I used to stick my index finger in the throat of the racket and spin it around... but when I tried it when the prestige it almost twisted my finger off because the bottom of the throat was too narrow... and I've never done it since. (I feel pain whenever I stick my finger in the throat)

;). This guy was an adult, underfed but roughly normal-bodied 'street performer'. I think he went on to do the same thing with a squash racquet and a toilet seat, somewhat simultaneously....

Yup...i saw it live...in two cities...by different people (both street performers). Imagine what they will say when someone asks what they do for a living..."oh i just shove myself through tennis racquets and such."

I just hold the racket like normal and give it a little flip so that it does a complete flip and lands right back in my hand. Then I punch through the strings, squeeze meself into a little ball, and jump through it.

i do this to i do it 3-4 times and when i get warmed up around 5-6 a good way to get the motion going is take your racquet hold it continental grip ofcourse rest a side of it against a door way and do the up and down motion you'll see when you first do this the racquet doesnt stay against the wall because our hands arent that coordinated and try to get muscle memory to go up and down without getting off balanced quote back if you have any questions i explained it the best i can

Good day gents!

I am able to bounce the ball from my racquet strings, to the ground and back to my racquet strings. I can successfully do this nine times without losing control.

I can do it 8 times pretty easily lol. Once you get used to how it bounces it gets pretty easy. My racquet frame is hella thin too lol

I hold it by the head with two hands, and spin it to the right (or left, like a driving wheel) and let it spin for 2 revolutions. Then I stick my right hand out and catch it by the handle.

yea i do the blake flip thing from one hand to the other while waiting to return serves...intimidation factor haha. the best one is acting like your about the spike the racquet down but letting it go late so the racquet goes flipping over your shoulder and then catching it in front of you. looks awesome

Well this isnt really a racquet trick but more of a trick shot... but anyways when I have a forehand on the run I can hit this shot that from my stance and racquet position, looks like a down the line shot, but when I hit it it goes cross court at about an 80 degree angle and hits the line, rendering it impossible to get to because of the impressive angle

Try this, spin the racquet around your hand counter clock-wise, catch by the beam on the head, spin it back clockwise, let go, let racquet spin in air once, and then catch by handle. It's pretty damn cool.
