oh anD the racquet plays alot better than the LM or the Flexpoint, it is alot more crisper than the others (my opinion)

That... looks... freakin' awesome. Can you give us some specs? I think I counted 18x20 string pattern.

nzraph4
04-13-2007, 04:24 PM
yes it is a 18x20 and ill try and get specs. but from feel, it had a thinner beam than the LM radical, and it felt awfully light, the strung weight was 315g

so no liquid metal and no flexpoint, they are out, what is in is Microgel which prevents my children's crayon from melting.

I did notice difference in the thickness of the racquet bridge area which seems like it narrows. If this is the case, then Head is reading this forum as well and incorporating some of our wishes on their new designs. A narrow bridge increases the feel of the frame giving it more control. Not sure if the bridge area is lowered as well.

PJ kinda reminds me of a babolat pure drive also. Wish they made one in a 16x19 pattern and a 18x20.

I'm hoping that since the LM and FXP are gone, the hoop is more consistent in flex and response.

I like the paintjob for the radical actually. It looks like a tiger. Very smooth. Reminds me of early 90s too somewhat. The 90s are totally in these days dudes.

Bring on the Prestige.

What's the difference between Head radical and prestige racquets? I notice they tend to reuse these terms and wondered if there was a design idea behind it.

Prestige is heavier, tends to be smaller. You can check the specs and see for yourself.

i think they're grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! (it's a reference to tony the tiger for those of you thinking i'm just weird.)

anyhow that was sarcasm. I think the design is too busy, like most racquets today k90 included. I liked the lm paint job nice simple clean lines.

Are you serious? The Radical OS line has actually been some of the best oversized rackets on the market. Not to mention Agassi played with the OS and the Radicals were notoriously "Agassi's Racket."

add to the list the npro and pretty much any of the classic pro tours Agassi had.

Just because you guys dont use OS racquets doesn't mean they aren't good.

I personally hate using OS racquets, but they do serve their purpose and fill their respective niches.

I wonder how different the Microgel Prestige would hit compared to the Flexpoint Prestige. My guess is that it will be less stiff and have some more pop to it.

I doubt it, I'm willing to bet it would be the Microgel 4. Of course you never know sense there is a Metallix 4. I'm confused, is Head going to use the Metallix for game improvement racquets, and the Microgel for players racquets?

One can only hope this version will be as good as the Ti Radical. Too bad it won't be quite heavy enough. 11.4 oz. strung would have been nice.

hitting with demo version of radical pro microgel, feels stiffer and more powerful than Flexpoint version, very nice serve and volley, there are dead spots on racquet meaning the sweetspot is very small.

I had a hit yesterday with the new radical, Tour Pro & the AA OS Radical - all nice sticks, the mp Radical felt the same to me as the fxp, AA OS was lighter, more like the Ti AA, and the tour pro 100'' was nice but didn't hit with it as much as the other sticks.

Blade0324
05-22-2007, 08:06 AM
I had a chance to hit with the tour pro last week. Stopped in to my local shop just as the Head rep was there dropping off demo's of the new Microgel sticks. I think there were 4 models, a MP, an OS, a tour and a pro tour. I only hit with the Pro 100". I think it was 11.2 printed on it if I remember correctly and had a more open string pattern 16x19. I play with a FP rad. MP and this seemed to be a bit stiffer and of course had better access to spin. Felt really nice on serves and I loved how it felt for groundies but was not as thrilled with the volleys. I will be demoing further to experiment with some different playing and possibly strings. The rep said they will be in stores in June.

Those Rads look nice, but what about the specs? i think they the way they add and subtract technologies over time that you just have to come back to the specs to get any idea of what is going on with a racquet and whether or not it is good for your game and why. That comes down to the specs therefore, not this or that bit of added tech.

What is the microgel meant to do - distribute shock? But surely it is the specs that will decide you either way?

PJ kinda reminds me of a babolat pure drive also. Wish they made one in a 16x19 pattern and a 18x20.

There is going to be a 16 main pattern in the new tour version (but it won't be called tour).

The Microgel Prestige will be out next year.

I just met with my Head Rep last Wednesday. I'm looking forward to hitting with them as well.

Microgel is supposed to stiffen the racquet through out in Head racquets. the radical pro is 11.7 oz, 100 size, 20 mm, it's stiff and swings easy. however i found it not to have a big sweet spot. it is stable due to weight. the radical is 11.1 oz, 98 and 21 mm. there is a radical 107 inch with 11.1 oz and 21 mm.
the 107 has the most power. the team is from extreme line.

The Radical mp is a hair lighter than the fxp ( 11.3 v/s 11.1 ) but hits the same, the OS is lighter and hits nice, actually used it in a doubles match yesterday.

hit with the midplus, as excited as i was to play with it
have owned the i/liq/flex radical mp
i was pretty disappointed with it--

i found it to be stiff, unforgiving, and a bit dead feeling
it was strung with fxp power right in the middle tension-wise, so i'm guessing its gotta be even worse with kevlar or poly

i suppose the pro or tour version might be softer
but i didnt like the 100" head of the flexpoint version

oh well back to my aerogel 200 euro.......

I have the MicroGel Rad. OS in posession currently to demo. I was hoping to check out the MP but the shop doesn't have it in right now. Coming from playing with a 98 head size to the 107 I was expecting to have some issues with too much power but to my surprise it hits very well. It's strung with Head control string at 57lb. I played a match with it last night and was very surprised at how good it felt. It has a much softer feed the FP Rad. that I normally hit with. Power is a bit more as expected from the OS but spin is much easier with the 16x19 pattern and thus control is not a problem. I added about 4g of lead at 12 and then about 6g in the but and this increased the spin even more. Over all I really like this frame and think it is a great impovement over the LM or FP frames.

I'm curious about the Instinct, too. I have the flexpoint version now and I like it, but I demo'd the LM XL version and I loved, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to buy one. I want the XL to come back.
