Courier is your all time fav?

I like Courier a bit but as all time fav, sorry, I think you're in a very small group of people.

What is it about him that makes him your all time favorite?

He and Berasategui were my favorite players of the 90s, solely based on the style of play. Courier had 2-3-4 killer inside-out forehands to throw the opponent off balance and then the last shot was a winner that was aimed either inside-out (again) or down the line when the court was too opened up already. His style was so distinctive; there is no pro in the world that I’ve watched, that can hit the forehands in the same way: very sharp straight-forward forehand… no spinny loop… not an orthodox big swing! I suppose Courier’s forehand is still more interesting for me to watch, than even Federer’s.

Courier whilw not have the talent of some made himself number one with hard work. I think we can all learn from that in our game. Also unless your just a front runner and just go with who is hot Courier is the man. Also his effort in davis cup was nice.

Courier is somebone it took a while for me to apprecitate. His game just wasn't the kind of style I liked watching. But I used to see him around Athens, GA a bit when he was working with John Roddick. He's a very good guy from all reports. And I think he's a good commentator.

Courier was my favorite player in the 90s. His forehand is the coolest looking stroke in tennis.

+1. Especially when he started speaking French after his FO win.

How does one not like Courier? Outworked everybody else out there, took the Lendl FH template up a level, and he grinded. Would've loved to have seen him tack on a couple more Slams during his prime, like the '93 French (he was 4-0 vs. Bruguera before that match) and at least one US Open. Of all people, Courier deserved a US Open - he's as American as it gets without being a good ol' boy. Or, how about conjuring a mythical match of Courier '92 vs. Muster '95 - they'd have to erect a Thunderdome for that ("Two men entah, one man leave"). Great player, commentator, and guy, seems like.

I'm a big Courier fan too.

The guy won 6 Masters Series events, back-to-back AO/FO's and, made it to the final of every slam. If it weren't for Edberg (who was still playing at his best) and Pete (who was nearing his prime) he'd be where Andre is right now, a career GS winner.

yeah, i liked courier alot (and when i say that i don't say that about 20 guys or anything).

that inside-out forehand was amazing. surprised others haven't picked up on his style so much.... courier just seemed to bludgeon (sp?) the ball.

He won the French because of his work ethic and other Americans just don't seem to want it to put that much work into it. He got every bit out of what god gave him.
