I LOVE my New Balance shoes and started wearing them for around and about errands etc...ya know...just daily stuff.

Is this a bad idea. Should awesome shoes be worn only on the court?

I were them sometimes because they are my most comfortable athletic shoes, but when they are new i will not.

When they are new, they are Tennis only.

It depends on how quickly you go through them.

I play primarily on clay, so I don't blow through the outsoles. For me, the midsole cushioning is the limiting factor. With that in mind, they're only used for tennis.

Same with my running shoes. I usually wear my older pair of running shoes for errands or even to work on days after hard court matches (gotta love living in Florida, even professionals have lax dress codes).

Its a pet peeve of mine when people wear their gear outside of the court. Granted, some people would probably go eat in their clothes after practicing and whatnot, but sometimes, I can tell when juniors wear their stuff just to wear it.

The Barricades for example are very cool looking shoes(right now I have the silver/Safin version) but somehow a lot of tennis shoes does not look well with jeans, they are much better paired with a nice warm up/sweat pants, and please no non tennis shorts either. I think because most tennis shoes have a wide base so they can look spread out. So yes one can get away with it paired with sports clothes.

I don't own any other shoes (besides sandals, etc). :)

In high school I only really had one pair of shoes for everything... so at that time -- yes.

When I started college I couldnt afford to go through tennis shoes any faster than i already was so I decided I'd only where them for tennis.

Now that I have Barricades with a 6 month guarantee, i where them whenever i want.

Well that's all I wear are my tennis shoes. Although my new ones are used pretty much just for tennis, and my old ones I wear everywhere.

i would say no....i only wear my tennis shoes for tennis and casual/lifestyle shoes for going out

esm

tennis shoes for tennis, runners/trainers for casual

eagle

Current ones are used solely (no pun intended) for tennis.

Old ones are use when mowing the lawn.

I normally keep two new pairs as ready backup.

Thanks,
eagle

I wear old ones all the time for casual wear. Usually I wear out the soles so they are smooth, but the uppers are still in good condition.

I also wear new shoes that turn out to be bad for tennis- like Nike ShoxAce.

I use the Breathe Free IIs when I play tennis. I wear Barricade IIIs (white with black stripes) mostly when I play, but I'll wear them sometimes when they match my clothes. And I generally do not wear my Nike Shox Ace (White/Red) when playing tennis.

I will wear mine on the way to and from a court sometimes, if I am doing nothing else in the interim, however I tend to go through my tennis shoes pretty quickly for proper tennis use, so have a couple of pairs kicking around that I wear at other times.

haha I just have my trusty brown sandals (2+ years now), and will only wear used tennis shoes when it's cold or I need closed toes shoes (damn labs!!).

I wear mine a lot, I only have 3 pairs of shoes.........2 are tennis, and one pair of sandals.. My main shoes Lotto Revenges are the only decent looking shoes I have, I also have my old K-Swiss' but they are worn out with holes in the toe and clay embedded in the sides...

I usually wear sandals to school and such though.

I have 4 pairs of shoes that I currently wear, including the Babolat Team All Court that I do wear outside of tennis - I don't play very much, so it would be a waste not to wear them, I think.
I prefer my Nike Free 5.0 for everyday stuff though, they are very comfortable.

Vapor 4's for tennis only and Barricade 4's for casual (bulky, heavy, didn't like them for tennis)

i'm young, most of my shoes are athletic shoes. I wear my black and white breathe free 3s and green and black breathe free 2s around. Besides those I have some Jordans, some shox, and a pair of those Nike "tennis" shoes that look more casual.

balongbalong
04-29-2007, 09:57 PM
no, because the new tennis shoe designs are not good looking outside the court ;)

i wear my jordans for casual instead :-D

and stan smiths!!!

I do just to break them it.

Skybox006
05-02-2007, 10:40 AM
The only time that I wear my tennis shoes off the courts if I am trying to break them in a little. I try to keep them clean so i can have better traction on the court, I play on clay at my club and i find if I wear down the soles then the traction becomes a little slippery. Sometimes i will wear them around town, but not frequently.

Is it weird that I buy one pair to wear and buy another pair to play in?

Serve em Up
05-02-2007, 11:51 AM
I keep two pairs. An inexpensive pair for cross training at gym and casual wear (usually new balance) and a good pair, K-swiss ultascendors right now. for match play.

When they wear out I chuck em'.

Well let's put it this way, when my parents generously dish out the money for my Barricades, they also reminded me of my flip flops

HyperHorse
05-02-2007, 06:10 PM
When they are new, ill wear them for a week or 2 just to break them in.
If i have a pair of runners that arent dead, ill wear those instead of needlessly wearing out my tennis shoes.

New ones for tennis, worn out ones (that still look nice) for very casual.

i wear tennis shoes off court on occassion...barricades look nice w/ jeans, but not the breathe frees. my faves are the a3 forefoots from a few years back...most comfortable shoe, but not durable at all, so i just wear them to work.

Heh just the other day I saw a fat dude wearing around some BIIs. So I asked him if he played tennis. His reply was "Why would I want to play a wuss sport like that?" I told him because you are wearing shoes made for tennis. Apparently he bought them for the looks.

Yeah, I used to wear my Puma shoes all the time..but after 2 years, they're a mess so I sent them to retirement. (I walk around a lot, and in a way that wrecks shoes).

I wish I could, but for some reason a hole develops in the front inside bottom of my left shoes, so I go through shoes in less than 3 week :(.

kaztennis
05-28-2007, 02:52 AM
I use it only on tennis courts until they are dead and then I use it for casual use too...but...Jeans and tennis shoes?! It could look dorky depending on how you dress.

The main reason is, just like good ultra high performance (car) tires, I don't want to wear them out fast. I play 4, 5 times a week switching between Prince T-9 (dead now..hole in toe), Adidas Barricade III, Nike Air Resolve(died but got a new pair using the 6 months guarantee).

The reason for having at least 2 pairs of shoes is to rest the other pair(and also will dry the shoes) and it's better if you think about the hygiene. (Same as work leather shoes...lasts longer and hygienely better!)

I play with Barricades II and i HAVE to break them in before playing tennis, i'll use them to walk around for like 2-3 weeks before i actually take them on court.

I can't play with brand-new shoes, they destroy my feet, i just find them too stiff. Does anybody else have this problem?

I think Propulses would look funny being worn outside of tennis, due to the color scheme and tongue strap, but maybe that's just me. Barricades would look great to wear casually though, if you were just running to the store, etc. I would never wear tennis shoes around campus or walking to class, because of the amount of walking done on a daily basis (15-30 minutes to/from each class). I would also not wear them to bars or clubs because of people stepping on feet, etc...I like nice clean shoes.
