Well, I don't know if this clip has been posted on here before, but I found a clip of this teenager who seems to hit rather well, I was just curious to see what you all think
Thanks

She's good, but not a "future tennis star" unless she's 12 or 13 (unlikely). She has consistent groundstrokes, even with some pace, but her serve is a major weakness, she usess no knee bend and just muscles the ball.
I wonder what kind of sponsorship she's seeking.
My uneducated guess is between 3.5 (very unlikely) and close to 5.0 (also unlikely)

Probably 4.5-5.0 really would have to see her in a match. She needs more power though and more knee bend on the backhand.

She would bury all 3.5's just with her consistency, and most 4.0's too.

I don't like her running/moving forehand though, can you say unbalanced.

That's why I felt it was unlikely. My coach (ex D III player) says he's a 4.5 and he hits much much harder consistently, and he serves well into the 100s using his legs and not muscling the ball like that girl was.

4.5 or 5.0. probably could go 5.0

She's going to define counter-puncher based on that, the only effort-ball I saw her hit was a smash, everything else was very 'measured'. At least 4.5 though, as others have said, just based on consistency. Serve was very mediocre, no kid getting coached should be allowed to have a gazillion metre high toss.

No question she'd be a good club player, but unless her game goes up many many levels in terms of power etc when she's pushed, well she doesn't have a chance. At her age, many girls are crushing the ball, and they were easy, lightly-fed balls that her dad was hitting to her.

All of that said: It really looks like she doesn't want to be there, I wonder how many kids worldwide get dragged to the courts by a parent everyday, wasting half of their life to be like Maria or Andy or Roger....

Am I the only one who's aware that your NTRP rating totally depends on where you live?

even for a girl, i say no sponsor. unless she wants to be there, wants to improve, etc

She's pretty oridinary. Fluid strokes but nothing to say WOW, look at that backhand etc. Then again she's just hitting fed balls, it's all pretty casual.

We need to see some match play and some power along with the consistency. Her serve would be chewed up faster then tobacco in the dug out, she needs to fill out a bit more.

My advice, get her to do some strength training, show some match play balls, or even a playing lesson rather then ball fed.

She's got nice grooved strokes but she needs a 'weapon' and from what I see, she doesn't have one and no, consistency doesn't count.

amazing consistency and good form. where i am (toronto), i'd say easy 5.0 (realize florida, cal etc. are tougher in rating)... would like to see a few points though

kind of robotic on the serve especially and in general.. doesn't look like she's having fun.

make sure you watch the video till the end. the last 10 seconds are gold. i think i saw my face there for a second.

thanks for the tip on throwing the ball further forward.

From Toronto? No way. I play at Kew Gardens!

Her strokes are pretty good. Her serve needs some work. I'd say women's 4.5-5.0.

Don't know about a sponsor, but her strokes are good enough to get her a scholarship somewhere. As others have stated she needs work on her serve>> definitely worst stroke in that vid.

looks like she's going for more controlled angle/placement on most of her shots. I think she's prob only hitting about 50-60% of what she's capable of. serve is lacking tho.

She look alot like 4.0 girls (now playing tournaments) that play at my norcal club.

She looks pretty good to me. Like female 5.0 at least. If she's won 7 tournaments, they could have linked her ITF profile, but they didn't, which makes me think she's not that highly ranked. Her serve needs a lot of work. She doesn't have a real motion yet, just tossing the ball and hitting it.

Biggest problem IMO is she looks to have the intensity of a turtle. No explosiveness. She's not even ready for high level D-2 competition yet.

4.0 players don't have strokes that good. Even though she's being fed balls, she hits its very cleanly...lots of power with minimal effort.

that serve was the most boring thing ive seen all day

She's an amazing player for someone with a disability! Sorry, is it correct to say someone has a disability if they cannot bend their knees past a 15º angle?

She would destroy any 3.5 male player, but I can serve better than her as a 3.0 male. She'd whip my ass though. I'd say she's probably a 4.5 player.

no-one noticed that she hit every ball deep

i know it looks slow, and she doesnt rotate well, closed stance too often but i don't think she is an aggressive player. She looks like she might just rally all day long. Its a valid style of play, until you come up against real big time players.

I think she would be a ladies 5.0 and @ 16 yo she will not be a future star in anywhere except her local club.

I hit with a girl like this once, and she is hitting the ball pretty well. In the warm up, I was puffed, because of the utter consistency, but in matches, I tended to over power or just place the ball better than her....not saying that girls suck, this vid just reminded me exactly of what I saw.

She really arms the ball, none of the rest of her body is doing anything and weird forehand takeback. That serve is not too good, who coaches her!? Her consistency is awesome though, each ball is deep and the same height over the net - she looks like she could keep the ball in play all day.

I wish I could hit like that

WOW, the last 10 seconds or so of the video is really something else...:D

I'm going to hell.

Yeah since she's like 15 or 16......

She is well trained.

You see a lot of juniors like her-fluid strokes, very consistent. But when the 1st point is played you realize they really don't move well and don't react well to different pace. The video gives no clue in that regard.

I see some don't like her serve but that seems to be the style being adopted by up and coming juniors(particuarly girls)-minimize the moving parts and weight forward.

I don't think she destroys a 3.5 male.

I think she destroys most 3.5 males pretty easily.

I think she is 5.0 and maybe 5.5 women's level looking for a college scholarship or eventually try the pro tour. She could compete with 4.5 men's level players. I am 4.0-4.5 and would like to play her. Parts of her game are better than mine. She is getting fed pretty easy balls though so it would be better to see her under pressure in a match situation. Good strokes though on both sides.

Maybe, but I can't tell from the video. Her serve is mediocre and no real clue on return of serve. Thats where matches are won and lost.

A 3.5 serve is not going to bother someone with her strokes. Her serve has some kinks but it is not a liability against a 3.5 guy.

Tough to say cause we need to see more of her. She could be a counter-puncher. Or she could have really good consistency and/or placement. Or when she plays a real match, she cranks it up a few notches.
