I posted a thread earlier about this problem but with no clear example there wasn't too much room for discussion.

I recently saw a video that illustrates exactly what I am doing on my serve.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIWF07KW9k4

Now, terribly obnoxious camera man aside, notice how his right foot slides parallel to his left? I am trying to figure out if this is something worth changing.

The power/control I get from my serve is exceptional (similar to the video) and I currently have no complaints. Is this excessive foot slide something that might be stopping me from further developing my serve?

I don't think I've ever seen any pros serve like this. Does anybody else have a similar motion? If so, how has it worked for you?

I think youre talking about the pin point stance and there are quite a few pros who do it

my coach tells me not to. he says that one should be able to serve without moving the feet at all (he does it and the serve looks really really good). i don't really know...i always listen to my coach. i usually end up jumping a little onto the court, but i don't slide my right foot in like that.

That is beyond pin point, though. In an average pin point the right foot slides up to the left but doesn't pass it. The right foot here goes well beyond the left, shifting the hip alignment to something else entirely.

I didnt really watch past the first serve he did when i posted that because the camera man. But doing the foot slide too much will open you up too much and i forgot the other thing if there is one lol. But its a bad thing and you should change it

A lot of people do this. As long as you don't footfault, its fine if its already a habit. If its not a habit, you might want to change it.
