View Full Version : Pete Sampras

I'm really interested to see how he looks/does.

"The soon-to-be Hall of Famer, who retired from competitive tennis in 2002, hung out with Roger Federer when the current world No. 1 was in California to play at Indian Wells. On the first day, they had a friendly workout hitting balls back and forth for about three hours.

"The next day," Sampras said, "he came to my house and we stepped it up a little bit. Two great players, playing on a practice court; just two guys going toe-to-toe.

"It was competitive. I held my own. For me, at my stage, I felt pretty happy about that."

Does anybody know the result of the recent match in Greece between Pete & Flipper? Will the weekend matches by televised? Thanks

The problem is, with Nike's heavy investment in Roger it'd be hard to tell if whatever result is "genuine" or mere farce. Something could've happened under the table. Wink wink Sampras/Fed.

Tho I'm probably just being paranoid.

Pete always does this when fed is in the news. Fed and nadal play on a super surface and pete does an interview the same day?

Yeah, the nerve of Pete interviewing (mind you at a press conference no less) about his upcoming match this weekend. I mean, the weakest player to ever win 14 Slams coming out of a 3 year retirement to play again competitive tennis is of course not news worthy. Out of respect for Roger, he should have just kept quiet. Appalling isn't it?

He's been doing it for two years now. How long is this comeback gonna take?

lol, I really wish he would comeback, but i dont think, hes got the commitment to fitness. knowing him, if he were to comeback, itd be to do well at the majors. at his age, its hard to be good in best of 5

I hope Sampras doesn't return to the pro tour.
Stay on the champions tour, maybe play a few exhibitions with current pros.
He'd be destroyed playing at a pro tournament now. He doesn't have the fitness to play best of 5 matches over 2 weeks.
