curious with all this federer talk, do people think federer needs a french open title to be undisputed GOAT?

No doubt in my mind. At least he is the best to play his whole career in the open era.

Federer will never be the "undisputed" GOAT just as Sampras is not now.

Even if he doesn't win the FO, if he wins more than 14 Slams, then he's the GOAT.

Imo, Sampras is, indeed, the current GOAT. Furthermore, imo, Federer doesn't, necessarily, have to win the FO to be considered GOAT, because Sampras never won it. Mainly, he just has to break Sampras GS record and he's the new GOAT.

I agree. Fed is still the 2nd best clay court player in the world and #1 on all other surfaces by far. Sampras was like the 139th best clay court player out there.

I agree, how can Pete be considered the Goat he was terrible on clay, Fed is way better than him on clay. Don't get me wrong Pete was amazing on other surfaces but its funny how every one is so hard on Fed even though he is a much better clay court player than Pete ever was.

It's a little sad that the title of GOAT would be easily bestowed upon Borg if he had just kept playing. If he had played through the 80's like his contemporaries you would have to like his chances of winning at least one U.S. Open. As well as putting his slam total at 15+.
