If you are getting a good deal on the IIs, go with them.

If they are still a bit pricy, consider the Wilson Scramjets. They are about an once lighter and very sturdy/supportive. They are, however, kind of ugly and are all plastic, but for about $40.oo, a very good buy.

Also try the K Swiss Ascendor SLT ... light and comfortable

I hear after a few weeks they become a real POS

Yep. Check out the Yonex Line. Super-light and super-comfy. Not super-durable, though.

While not in the 12 oz range neccessarily the Asics Gel Resolutions feel very similar to the feathers weight wise on the foot and have more durability

They're fairly light especially when you're switching from the AIR MAX SMASH (I use them too .. for hardcourts). There are places where you can get them cheaper (maybe 10 bucks cheaper).
