Nah, a lot of people underestimate the quality of Texas tennis. We've got some real talent down here. Next year keep in touch on the message boards and I'll try and say hey at State (considering we both make it) or whatever.

Thanks, yes, I was being sincere in my comment. I am not saying that high school varsity tennis is mediocre (it's a wide range, right). I was just saying that it is easy to feel on top of the world when you are the strongest tennis player in your high school or county. It takes guts for a guy in such position to enter sectional or national tournaments and see his place in the grander scheme.

Alright. High school tennis is kind of a joke for a lot of the better juniors. Sure, there is good competition at state because this is where the best from each section meet up for school tennis, but otherwise, there isn't really that much competition.

Only the best of the best usually opt out of playing high school tennis, because its usually some decent practice for little to no fee. The academy kids dont have to deal with it because they have much better competition all around them every day.

As for me being cocky, I think my statement was misinterpreted. I found it funny that one of the best 16 year olds in Oregon was described by how he was doing in high school tennis, which I think isn't the most accurate representation. I've really been pretty nice to everyone here, and I don't feel its all that fair to have a couple statements blow up in my face. I'm pretty reasonable about my goals and expectations, so be careful about what you assume.

I've improved alot this year, even moreso in the last few months, and I know that I am good enough to compete in the ITF tournaments that I am beginning to play. Bollettieri has helped me immensely, and I know that I'll continue to improve a lot for however long I stay here. Sakumo, my name is Zach Jiganti, by the way.

Dude I played highschool fresh year. Imagine what it was for me. It's about your highschool team, and making the school look good.

Yes I played when I was a freshman too. As for what it's about, this is more of a question of opinion. In my opinion, I think one should be more into what's best for them. I understand that it's good to tribute your school by playing on the tennis team if you're an excellent player, but if you really could be getting much better by playing somewhere else, then I believe that the best decision is to help yourself be the best you can be. After all, tennis is essentially an individual sport,

@ fluffy: I explained that I didn't mean to sound cocky. My statements may have come off that way, and I apologize for not being more clear. There really isn't much competition for the better USTA and ITF players until state; I was not near as good as I am now when I played districts last year, I can almost guarantee that a player like Sakumo or cereal would win the state tournament for my state.

If there's anything else you would like me to clear up, I will gladly. I don't want to come off as some cocky rich academy kid, so please let me know if there is anything else you would like me to explain.

I was doing close to the same as you were, but probably a bit less. Probably an hour and a half to two hours for school practice and then 1-2 hours on my court at home or with my coach at the local Bally's. Some days it was pretty rainy and I couldn't do anything tenniswise, so I'd usually do some fitness-related stuff.

Yea that should be good. Pro's don't hit more then 3 hours a day.

Yeah, but I was also taking days off and stuff, especially when I had tests to study for and stuff. So you were probably doing like, twice as much as me lol. ;)

By the way, what are your summer plans? I'm doing a lot of ITF's this summer, probably some of which you may be doing as well.

Haha, this sounds like the ones that I am doing. I'm just going with my academy for all of them, trying to get a buncha points this summer playing Grade 4's and 5's. Leaving friday for El Salvador, then Guatemala the week after that. Then I think starting June 23rd or so, five Caribbean tournaments, some in Aruba and stuff. Not the most popular of places to go, but the competition won't be as tough as it is in the US. Good for getting points. Eventually I'll stay in the US for the most part when I've got some points and can get into main draw for G3's and 2's and stuff, but for now I just need to rack 'em up. :-D

Sakumo, you've obvioulsy made it to a high level of tournaments and play pretty quickly. Do you have any advice to give us younger competetive juniors on what types of tournaments to play, and etc.?

Well I will tell you I played a bit of juniors, but I played a little more open level against older players, so there is less bragging complaining and cheating. Obviously playing juniors is a must, for later in college to get your rank up. I would say balance it for champs level and then national level, and every once in a while, go and play in an ITF or a big tourney, that way your getting views of all the levels, and can match yourself to them. I am playing a couple qualies for the bigger tourneys, and I will probably lose pretty badly, but it is great to know how good I am against the pro's and when to really try to make a shot. So my point being if you are winning at champs go to the nationals if you are winning at the national level, play some ITF, be evenly balanced. Sorry for rambling lol I hope that helped, just ask if you have more questions.

I proved him to be a fake in my stroke inventory thread, and he left the boards. The mods deleted the posts, because he did some serious name calling. But basically I proved that no 16 year old in the country did what he said he did. Then he claimed he was Rhyne Williams, which was obviously not true.

well, it is entirely possible he is rhyne williams (though probably not) but hes definetly lied about his accomplishments, he has yet to provide any proof hes actually played in challengers. If he were rhyne williams, though, I dont think he would have any need to lie about playing in pro tournaments, rhyne has accomplished plenty

Rhyne has never played a challenger, never been in the main draw of an ATP tourney. All this is all public info.

why was that obviously not true?

Because RW doesn't play with the racquets, or style that Sakumo claimed to, and hasn't done any of the stuff Sakumo claimed to have done.

J

J011yroger
07-01-2007, 06:13 PM
P.S. I without a doubt disproved Sakumo. No 16 year old in the country has done what he claimed to have done, I added up all the ATP points from his supposed tournaments and it added up to like 770 in the world at the absolute minimum, while there are no american 16 year olds in the ATP top 1000.

He claimed to be Rhyne Williams when I disproved him, but Rhyne Williams doesn't play the racquets Sakumo claimed to play with, doesn't have the ohbh Sakumo claimed to have, and never played the Challanger, and ATP events Sakumo claimed to play.

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up. Me and many other people discussed him lying, after he told some of us that he was Rhyne Williams. I suspected it after he said that he used to live in Washington, and that he used a K90, which doesn't fit Rhyne Williams profile.
