I was just watching my tivo of Rome on TTC and I thought I saw Fed come out with a short haircut, only to find it's a player I've heard of but never seen, Amir Delic. The resemblance is pretty uncanny, except Delic is somewhat better looking (I'm a female, and I think Roger, after a bad adolescence, has turned into a hottie, by the way). It would be interesting to see them play each other.

I agree. I saw Delic live and I couldn't get over how much he resembled Federer (not so much facially though). Thankfully I am not the only one who noticed this I was begining to think I was crazy.

I don't see it, never seen it. Believe me, I've spent more than a few minutes looking at Amer's face (he's quite a handsome fellow). I like the way he plays though. I have a bit of a weakness for the 'big' players, and Amer can actually move fairly well. He's working on expanding his S & V game, but I haven't seen him play since last year so I don't know if that's working for him or not.

He does look a lot like Fed in the playing style, and he also uses the same paint-job. but his shots are still not consistent enough. However, as a general rule, 1handers tend to mature later, so he might have a good future.

Exactly. It's not so much that facially, they are look-alikes, but if I was afar and saw him on court, I would think it was Federer. Their strokes look very similar, his style and way of walking on court is really Federer-esque it's uncanny.
I saw him at the clay court championships and I could see it everytime i saw him play.

If you've ever seen Blake Muller from Stanford, the walk and look, everything (except for play style), looks just like Roger. I saw him playing at Ojai.

But Fee, didn't you see Delic play at this year's SAP Open? He also played doubles with Robert Kendrick.

The ESPN commentators compared him to Mark Phillipousis ...big serve, big man, and in profile he does look like Mark.

They also make the comment that the Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian players have the perfect build for tennis...and jokingly said it must be a genetic trait. Ancic, Dnokovic, Ivanisevic, and the other "ic" es.

Nope, too busy to see his first round match (which he lost), and I left before his doubles matches were moved to the main arena.

War, Safin: Thanks for posting the photos. I noticed on the TV feed that Delic looked less like Roger when he smiled (as in the photo you posted). When he is on the tennis court, from many angles the resemblance is stronger. He does seem to have very fluid movement too, like Roger.

Yesterday I couldn't find photos because I was misspelling his first name. Here's one from his website. There are also recent photos from the match with Safin. This looks enough like Roger to me that I would do a double-take. It's obviously not Roger but...

I saw him at the USO years ago his first year playing there, and he looked nothing like Fed physically or on the court. He played S&V tennis had a big serve and is a big guy--who showed a lot of emotion at that time (but he'd just finished with college tennis at that point). Makes me wonder if he is emulating Fed. You see so many juniors now twirling there racquet when waiting for the return just like Fed--who wouldnt want to copy him.

How can he have 8-21 career record in singles and yet earned almost $400k?

Seems a very likeable fella. His blog was very nice.

in some big tournaments getting to even the first round will pay up to $20,000. getting to the early rounds enough times can add up.

He's 12-24. And don't forget about doubles. You can make some nice cash there as well. But you are right, he's barely done anything on the pro tour and has already made half a mill. We're in the wrong business buddy.;)

And he does look like Federer. Better to be a Fed look-a-like than an Alex Bogdanovic look-a-like.
