Here's a coaching idea that makes sense.

But Federer with Rasheed?? Welcome to the latest ride on the coaching merry-go-round.

Tony Roche looks set to become Lleyton Hewitt's new coach after being

unexpectedly sacked by world number one Roger Federer.

Roche, who also coached Pat Rafter for five years, had worked with Federer on a part-time basis from 2005 but is now expected to confirm his intentions to work with Hewitt as soon as his partnership with the Swiss is fully disintegrated.

Federer meanwhile is rumoured to be setting up a partnership with either Darren Cahill or Roger Rasheed - both of whom have worked with Australian Hewitt.

"If Tony Roche is available, we would be silly not to talk to him," Hewitt's manager David Drysdale said.

"I'm not sure what Rochie's frame of mind is at the moment, but I'd like to talk to him, without a doubt. He's worked previously with Lleyton in Davis Cup with great success."

I think that would be a good move for Hewitt.

Federer and Cahill would be pretty good too imo.

It's difficult to see what a coach can do with a player like Federer, I think he needs someone who will be able to connect with him mentally and help him formulate some good game plans and to continue to motivate him to do well.

I get the impression that a guy like Roche wouldn't of been the greatest at motivating Federer but a young coach like Cahill could give him some fresh ideas and enthusiasm to get him back on the right track.

I think that Roche/Hewitt would be good comboination for Hewitt's game. But like rommil said they both would have to get along.

Hewitt would go something like "Ok old man. Tell me ALL you know about Federer and how to beat him. NOW."

isnt roche more of a volley specialist type coach though? Do you think he would really get hewitt out of his slump?

Haha.:p

If Roche would resist Hewitt would have to say "C'moooooooooooaaaan"!

roche, cahill, rasheed - why so much demand for the aussie coaches?
