Couple interesting quotes I came across in post-match interviews after a 14 year old Bulgarian beat Serna yesterday in IW.

----
Q. So how good is she at 14?
MAGUI SERNA: I mean, she's not bad. I guess, I mean, I was more focusing on my game, and didn't play good at all.

Q. Bollettieri says she's going to be No. 1. What do you think about that? Does she have a No. 1's game?
MAGUI SERNA: I don't think so, in my opinion. She has to improve a lot of things, the serve for starters, and the forehand.

Q. How well does she run?
MAGUI SERNA: I don't think she run that well either. I mean, but I was more like focusing on my game today than on her game.
But obviously she plays good for a 14-year-old, but I don't see her right now as a Top 10.

----

Q. Have you ever played a player like Serna who has so many different spins and varieties?
SESIL KARATANCHEVA: You know, before I left for here, I played against a guy that had like very similar game to hers. I don't really know his name, but he was my age, 14. He had really good first serve. He would play top spins. He would play slices. He would come in the net. And I lost, I really did, I lost two straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
The thing that he had and she didn't that I didn't expect when would he hit the ball and when would he won't. With her, I can kind of like get to know when she's going to hit, when she's going to keep the ball in play. Him, you just hit a ball from nowhere, then just not hit the ball.
You know, it's hard to know, especially against a guy, what he's going to do. They're just, I don't know, different kind of type of players.

Good stuff.

Bollettierri says that everyone who goes near his academy is going to be No 1.

More sensible coaches leave out the hype. They'll tell you that you really can't tell who'll make it and who won't, until the deed is actually done.

Yeah, sour grapes Serna. Like Rude-ski when he lost to Sampras at the US Open in 2002.

If the guy/gal you lost to is cr@p, what does that make you....

Check out the Yahoo article, where she says she's going to kick Sharapova's butt, and says that MS was ducking her at Nick's....

She holds the active record for longest time spent in labor, over five years now; we're still waiting.
