are there any people who use pinpoint for power on the first serve, but platform for the 2nd?
ive just been doing that lately.. i either hit a really hard flat serve, or it faults and i change to platform and take a safe shot.. feels really weird but im kinda torn between which one to stick with

if i want a really kicky 2nd serve and am not S&V i will often platform, it feels weird to do it but doesnt seem to hurt the serve

Not a good idea. It really messes up your rhythm which is very important for serving.

Not to mention it lets your opponent know what type of serve is coming.

Then again if your trickery enough you can tricksy the opponent.

I doubt it very much that it will be worth the effort.
Mastering 1 way to serve is already hard enough.

I stick with platform for both my first and second serves. more natural and doesn't feel like you're going to lose balance.

Consistency ranks a lot higher on the list of serving priorities than disguise or power. Use what works and experiment with the other in your spare time.

I guess you could say I serve pinpoint, but I start with my legs together and don't move them.

I started basing my serve off Andy Roddick's form, and to my surprise, it worked. Also, since I'm a lefty, I usually just kick the ball out wide on the ad court.
