All Japan doubles match, Sharp vs. Tokyo Electric, all four players similar style, similar ability...What would be their NTRP rank? 5.0? 5.5?

Any comments about their game? Seems to me everything classic -- form, strokes, movement, serve and volley, mechanics good. All trained by the same coach, lots of practice to get the form right -- pretty much what you'd expect from the Japanese. Interesting to watch, though.

That was very good! Thanks for posting. Here is some College doubles to compare to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt8nhOEBH38&mode=related&search=
I presume the link I posted is about 5.5 standard.

Japanese like soft tennis. it is good for asians who can compete with anyone much bigger, with a media (soft ball) that don't make it all POWER games.

See they play, they play somehow like soft tennis.
Busy feet... lot of power but not enough control.

ps60: my feeling is that they are playing with control and not with a lot of power. I see their game, both teams, as trying to keep the ball in play, low over the net, cross court or down the middle, and not trying to crush the ball. Solid tennis, and not trying for a lot of power.

they are quick, quick movers, great to watch when you lumber your 6'4 frame around a ct lol

They're fun to watch. And they all seem to have great forms and team work. Great attitude too. That is the kind of atmosphere double teams need.

i'm amazed that people can play doubles.... as i said in another thread, i don't really like playing team sports due to team members not being able to keep up with me, team members that are too good for me and i feel left out. rarely do i ever get a real good team that plays at a pace that i can play comfortably at. this is why i got into tennis. SINGLES FTW!!

btw very nice volleys

Anyone noticed at 2:25 the guy in black serving dropped the ball from his pocket after serving; play continued but I suppose the other side could have called to play a let after seeing the ball drop onto the court.

There's a part two here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKXE5nvleTY&NR=1

this part two is much shorter, and I'm not sure who won, though I think it's the team with the two righties, because I think the team with the guy in black, the lefty, the righty on that team was playing at a level just a tad below the level of the other 3 players. He made the bulk of the errors of the points shown -- easy overhead hit long, returns hit out, etc.

I love how the guy in black is a lefty, and hes the one dominating.. Haha. South paws FTW.
