Hi Iam relatively new to this forum, which by the way DOESNT mean I am new to tennis, actually I have been playing open tournaments for many years.Any way it really annoys me when people in tips and instructions with high status rankings try and give advice when it is clear they have no idea.I see it at least once in every post, It makes me laugh. I have seen some of the people with pro status on here play and my little brother would blast them off the court, while they are on here writing 1000s of posts i am out there hitting 1000s of tennis balls earning a real tennis ranking,
so the next time a person with pro staus quotes me and tells me iam wrong, unless they have a tennis ranking in the top 500 in the world i will scream !!!!!!!!!

Its all about working out which ones know what they are on about...I would just ignore those that don't. I try and keep it to what I know, have been playing since I was 6 also, not always right though :). That said I think its well intentioned on their part

The "pro status" just means they've posted a lot on the forum. It doesn't mean they're a tennis pro.
We don't have any control over that little label below our name.

You know, you really should consider a serve and volley game. They are making a comeback.

Uuummmmm... if you can't handle folks with little to no experience acting like they have it, why are you on the Internet? That's what the Internet is.

Yeah, so you think that because I'm in the HOF on this board, that I'm good? Well, the HOF is just based on how many posts I have on the board. I'm just a lowly 4.5. I'm not the one who posted that the legs play no part in a kicker though. Personally, I feel that you can trust stringing advice from this board, provided you know who is talking. Some people to trust would be: Redflea, Court Jester, Thomas Martinez, massam.....uhhhhh......hmmmmm.....damn...whatever. ..., me (I know, I'm self serving), Jonalou (spelling?), DD, and several others, you really have to tell from previous posts. Also, on any question to the boards, make sure you get a second opinion.

I share your frustration. I agree that there's waaaaaaay too much B.S. posted in this forum. OTOH, you'll see that it is helpful once you learn who to ignore & who to listen to.
Let me also add that "filtering out the noise" is an essential living skill. Everyday I deal with people who think they know more than they do, and act accordingly. This is not an issue confined to the internet.
So, take it easy :)

I don't have pro status, and I am ranked in the bottom 500 in the world, so I guess that qualifies me to tell you how to play:
Judging from your over-aggressive post, your game is probably too aggressive also. You are trying to end points too quickly, losing too many of them. Slow the ball down a little, and lengthen the points. If you beat yourself, your opponent doesn't have to beat you.
Also, I get the feeling you approach on the forehand too often. That's the normal response because you get a weaker response when you hit someone's backhand, then you usually go cross court to the open court. Try slicing in right back to the backhand. It may wrong foot them, or in any case, give you a little bit easier volley to work with.
I'm also getting some bad vibes about your nutrition. Better save that one for next time though. I don't want to heap too much on you at once.

What I get not stringing props? J/K really, but I second what your saying. Knowing who is giving the advice is half the battle....and keeping up with the members posts helps filter out the weeds if you know what I mean.

somebody should promote solidtennis to the position of "god" because he knows everything about anything and could beat everyone here. [/sarcasm]
But seriously, if you just listen to me and do as i say, you'll be the best very soon. I obviously give the best advice here.;)

Don't twist my word, I said:
Most topspin in any kind of topspin serve does not generate from leg drive. It is from the swing path hence the shoulder turn. A player should be able to hit any kind of topspin serve with both feet on the ground.
Read carefully because you complain.
Try two things:
1) Leg drive into a serve without swinging into the balls.
2) Swing into the serve without leg drive.
See which one you can hit more topspin, or see if you can leg drive the ball pass the net.
