What is "simple" tennis

What do you consider simple,, my dad is basically convinced it means dinking it over the net. i say it is down the middle with decent hight over the net. What do you say? and when the sound clip in your head that say keep it simple makes you miss is it being counter productive?

deep middle on groundstrokes, serve to the backhand. thats about as simple as it gets for me, and it actually works really well against players that are the same level as me, because eventually i get enough feel to go for bigger shots and be more agressive.

i feel your sympathy, iplaybetter. my dad always criticises how i play against top-ranked players, just running and hitting it back deep down the middle, with the occasional 'hard' shot. it actually works... just tell your dad that you dont have to play hard to win.
