I played alot amount of tennis the other day (probably too much) and woke up with a very sore wrist. This hasn't happend since I started playing tennis. What I'd like to know, is a sore wrist normal after playing too much in one day, or is a sore wrist a sign of bad stroke motion (mostly forehand)?

I got a horrible wrist problem when I first started out due to a horrible backhand. It would sting if I moved my hand in a certain direction. Playing too much with a solid stroke shouldnt have any adverse effects. Something in the stroke I would imagine...

Too much exercise can lead to injuries. You probably overdid it with the tennis.

Either bad technique or too much tennis

It can also be attributed to combining tennis with any of the following activties from daily life (and many others):
-Typing
-Writing
-Playing some instruments like the guitar
-Videogames (especially if it's a game like Beatmania or many other rhythm games)
-manual labor
-intense cooking sessions
-Solo and/or cooperative recreational activities involving extended usage of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
On the last one, girls can be quite good at destroying a partner's finely tuned dominant wrist
Hmm... sorta reminds me of a small piece of dialogue in the film, Jersey Girl.

A sore wrist usually means two things:
1. You are using too much wrist in your strokes (i.e, trying force a wrist snap on your serves, flicking your wrists on the forehand, etc.) You should maintain a firm and fixed wrist with a firm grip when hitting the ball. On the serve do not try and snap your wrist formore power, just let the wrist get into position naturally from your motion.
2. Weak shoulders and forearms. Only advice is strength training.
