Sharapova was playing like crap. Double faulting, as usual, missing easy swing volleys, and her forehand was awful. And like she herself said, she moved around like a cow on ice.

In contrast, Ivanovic was lsiding well, moving well, and serving amazing (the first and last points of the match were aces). Her backhand was solid, and her forehand was just too good, scoring several retur n winners off of Sharapova's weak serves. She managed to do inside out forehands to, which spelled doom for Maria. Not to mention not many unforced errors.

She was simply outplayed.

it was obvious. who was going to win.
ivanovic was serving to well thorugh the entire tournament, with 100 mph second serves? ouch. sharapova's serves were bleh, because of her shoulder problem previously

as her serve became weak, her unforced errors came in. she couldnt deal with ivanovic's serve, and unforced errors piled again.

so yea. blow out.

I only saw bits and pieces of the match while I was doing work, but it seemed like Sharapova couldn't do anything right, and everything was going right for Ivanovic. Sharapova pretty much summed it up herself in her postmatch interview--she wasn't even hitting her favorite shots well, and every time she got an opening she'd commit a sloppy unforced error. Her serve was godawful, and even Maria wouldn't blame her shoulder 100% for that. Can't win too many semis that way.

Not to discredit Ana. Her service was, and has been, incredible, and her groundstrokes were awesome. She's no cow on ice (c:

She tried to play her aggressive hardcourt game on clay and failed.

she doesn't move well on clay
she can't,like the Roddick or Blake adjust her game when plan A is not working
she isn't a good defensive player and we all know she can't do ***** at the net,and once again, she had an open court many times but ended up netting balls when not sending them out.
She served like ***** and returned like *****
she like Mental said played her usual HC game on clay and with a good mover, good returner;good defensive and offensive player like Ivanovic it didn't work and it won't unless she makes changes
but oh wait, this is just me dreaming:lol:

One commentator summed it up by saying 'Ivanovic does everything Sharapova does but a bit better'. Sha'pova did have an injured shoulder though she that may have made her shot selection more riskier than normal.

I am glad Sharapova lost. Poor Sport. Anywayz given the drubbing she is getting these days (Aus open final), French open semi, its clear that her game is not with the best.

her shoulder injury didn't keep her from beating a usually choking Scnyder and Chakvetadze besides the cakewalk draw to get to the semis;)
she got crushed because she stinks on clay and because Ivanovic is getting better at playing and adjusting her game to all surfaces unlike Sharapova
