I'm a 15 year old who is moving up to the 16s. I've won a L6 14 tournament before, and probably play a 3.5. I was just wondering what the jump will be like. Will I get overpowered?

L6 USTA? No fence, but nobody's any good till your open level 4. You most likely are a 3.0, a high one. What level 16's are you going to play tho? If it's L6, then it will be the same.

I'll be playing L5 or L4's. I've improved a lot.

L6? I thought it went from highest (L1) to lowest (L3), with L1s being best of 3 sets (play out a 3rd set) and L3 being a round robin. Is it different with every state?

You'lle proboably win a match, then lose in the next round. L4 is a bit too much. Try 5's first,
NoNo...L5 is where it REALLY starts, anything like 6 or 7 is like, satelites on the ATP circuit..crap. L1 is the highest with L5 being the lowest..and I don't know where you got the round robin:Single elimination difference thing from..

Each state has different rules.

Yea well that's how it is in the Eastern Section, but in other sections it's different.

what section are you in?
EDIT: Nvm saw your in virginia, because if you won a Level 6 in New England your definitley better than a 3.5

The L6 I won was in Massachusetts. It happened when I was visiting family.

lol thats pretty solid then depending on the draw and stuff, probably a decent 4.0 (although i dont think juniors should be judged in NTRP)

Making the jump is hard. i was ranked in the top 10 in my state as a 14 year old. I was a scrambling baseliner who rarely hit winners. I just focused on getting shots back deep. When I made the jump to the 16's I got overpoweered quickly. I had to change my whole game. It' tough but stick with it.

Personally, I like the jump I'm still 14 and I have a year until I age out, but I have already started playin a lot of 16's, and I like the pace, the competition, pretty much everything so I think you should try it.

There isn't much of a difference from 14's to the 16's. There are just bigger kids and they have a little more pace on the BaLL..

No offense, but I find it hard to believe that your a strong 5.0 and your only 15.
