I've heard taking a caffeine tablet before a match can improve stamina and concentration. Is this true?

I've found that Red Bull helps.

Need about 8 No-Doz or cups of coffee for caffeine to act as a vasodialator, opening your blood vessels to allow you to stay in an aerobic state. This means it is an illegal drug in many sports, especially cycling. Btw, tennis requires short bursts of energy, an anaerobic activity. May not improve performance.

I used to take it in senior year in high for more time to get work done...

I would never ever take tablets again. I will go only as far as coffee if i need to stay awake

Too much caffeine makes me jumpy...while I'm alert, I'm not relaxed, and I make more unforced errors.

Black tea, is my secret weapon.
Trick is to pour only boiling water on the tea bag. hot water does not release the tanins and flavonoids, it must be boiling water.
I drink about 3 large cups, 24oz size before tennis, and in fact drink about 6 cups of this per day. It really seems to raise your game, and at the same time, does not get you completely jolted up on cafreine like coffe, much easirer on your body.
I also think it improves your cadiovascular health, by removing plaques from the arteries, while coffe actually can contribute to heart disease. Black tea, is better than green tea, in my view.

A lot of runners drink caffeine before enduring a long run. It helps as long as you take some more to counter the drop. :)

Wow, if this is true then we should all starting drinking black tea. I have heard about the positive effects of green tea and have also tried many diff kinds of teas including ginseng. I enjoy them all and would love to find an plaque removing drink !
