Was wondering if any touring pro's have ever used the POG Midplus version (93Sq inch head). I know that a lot of pro's use the oversize and the Longer 28 inch 100sq inch head.....

But I was trying to remember if any pro's ever used that frame in a midsize and could not come up with any..... Can anyone remember if this frame was ever used on the Men' pro tour.

If not why is it not used as much as the oversize versions are.

it's known as the POG Midsize not Midplus. its unusual super-open 14x18 string pattern is the reason for it's lack of popularity amongst pros. it is EXTREMELY spin-friendly whereas pros tend to prefer control-oriented racquets.

i think lleyton hewitt, lisa raymond and thomas enqvist used it.

thanks for the info....so nalbandian and coria both used the oversized versions (prob the 100 sq inch Longbody frames?)...

on the 1987 versions it started saying midplus on the side instead of series 90
which is why I referred to it as midplus....

although the 93 should be called midsize..
the 100 should be called Midplus
and the oversize should be called OS.

I remember Thierry Tulasne using the POG 90 and Mark Knowles used the POG 90 before switching to the PC600.

Vince Spadea and Patrick Rafter before he switched to the Graphite II.

I believe Spadea used and still uses the OS version.

Ferrero also used the mid

No, Ferrero uses the 100sq in Longbody version.

It's a definitely always been a midplus, as the link proves.
I believe Gabriela Sabatini used one..not 100% sure though

I saw Rafter up close both side court matches and practice in New Haven 1995(Volvo) and 1996-1998(Pilot Pen)

He went from POG mid directly to p response at some point.....I did not see Pat play the graphite II. Perhaps he snuck it in there at some point, but I did not see it.

He had a real nice chat with me and my kid after a side court match, I believe 1996. The nicest genuinely friendliest athlete I have ever met. The autographed match ball remains one of my kids prize possessions. Recall watching a practice session hitting with Phillopoussas I believe 97. He was good then folks, real good, flat out solid. Wore down and flamed out but at his peak Pat could play.

Leander Paes was hitting the POG mid at the time.....saw him beat Sampras first round match I think 1 and 1....1997 maybe?

Not the pistols best effort:rolleyes:
