my coach is extremely narrow minded. he thinks im at the same level as a puny little girl whom i beat 0 and 0. he thinks that he is always right and wont listen to me. i pay him $50 a lesson and he puts me at a lower state of mind by criticizing me on my attitude. hes a good technical coach but do any of u know how i can cope with his refusal to listen to my ideas.

stick it out he's probably trying to make you mentally tough that's why my coach did it but if not take it as a challenge to make yourself better as fast as possible and work hard and prove him wrong try to turn it into a positive you're in a perfect position to gain some well deserved respect from your coach

Yea I agree with you. Try to just prove him wrong. Sometimes it's not your skill he's trying to change, but your attitude. So be kind, and respectful. Just keep working harder. But you've obviously done well since before you posted that you got better. So keep up the good work.

How old are you?
I am not trying to degrade you in anyway shape or form, but when I first starting playing at about 11, my 1st coach was the exact same way. For awhile I thought he was a complete idiot and extremely narrow minded, but when I started playing competitively I understood what he was trying to instill. I agree with the previous posts, that you should stick it out and take as much knowledge from the experience as possible.
if you can't handle such thing, then look for another coach, simple.
Mental thoughness is one of the greatest asset in Tennis. AND LIFE;)

There's a difference between your coach "testing" you and your coach harassing you and/or being a bad coach.
It's your money, bottom line.

It won't be cheating if you try another coach.
Try someone else, then decide.

**********,
All the above comments can be good advice if you have the right starting point.
Ask the coach after your lesson what he is driving at by the way he is attempting to motivate, or to change your behavior. If he is a good coach, he has a good reason what he is trying to get you to do by his coaching method. Ask him straight up what the deal is.
A full and frank discussion of your feelings may be necessary as well. If you are a quiet kid, you may "burn" on the inside but may not show it on the court. If he doesn't know this about you, educate him, but do not let him think you don't care or are not trying. If you are a demonstative kid, he may need to calm you down or refocus your energy in a more positive way, or he may need to beat you over the head to get you to wise up. Again, talk with him and see his perspective and share yours.
In any event, if he is an ass, no matter what his motivations, you may need to find another one.
Good luck.
