It is all about low to high motion and swing speed. Leg drive, shoulder rotation and weight transfer.

Regardless of the grip you are using, the faster your swing speed thru contact the more spin>>> also the more angle/brush you create the more spin.
As mucat stated, you need to go from a low to high angle.

Yes, I have been hitting with EFH all my life and I do have lots of topspin on my shot (shoulder to head high and up depending on your height).
IMO, it is all about leg bend and shoulder rotation for swing speed generation. You should use wiper motion (to get higher swing speed. For the contact point, try to hit the ball more in front of you, unlike the classic way of hitting.
To hit higher ball, your contact point can be when the racket is slight pointing upward during the wiper motion swing.

try using extreme eastern, its great for topspin
