View Full Version : is there any kind of muscle building that will actually help your tennis?

just wondering if working any of the different muscle groups will give a noticeable boost to a person's game? like perhaps legs or core for groundstrokes, shoulders for serving etc. etc.

the thing about tennis is that you want to be overall fit, not bulky.
tennis uses every muscle group in your body. working on anything can't hurt. legs for running, core for groundstrokes, shoulders, you name it.

increasing your forearm strength is going to help your groundstrokes A LOT

The most recent edition of TENNIS magazine has a good workout-specificly-for-tennis article. You may be able to find the article at tennis.com as well.

i think that it should be well balanced cuz my right forearm built up pretty well wif tennis but i like it all to be balance, like u need good muscle strength in the legs for running and when ur bending and the bak too and other parts. Also i don't want my right arm hav too Big of a difference wif my left side so yea i perfer it to be balanced

Rotator cuffs, push ups, pulls ups.Anything that works on you pecs for groundstrokes and back for serving. You also need some abs to rotate quickly your body.
