thinking about entering some tournaments

i want to enter some tournaments but i dont know if im good enough lol. im probably a 4.0 player with good groundstrokes and decent volleys. i checked for some tournaments on the usta website and there are some coming up that are really close to where i live. how do these tournaments work? do i go there and just pay the money or do i have to join usta? how do u exactly join usta??
