Hi, I am going to be a junior and will be(probably) on Varsity this year. I am not that good of a player 3.2-3.7 maybe, but I just started playing freshmen year. I was wondering if I should sign up for the USTA and play in tournaments cause I want to improve. Will I just get owned there or is it worth a shot?

Thanks.

definetly worth it, I was in your shoes two years ago. Start out with some locals, build your confidence and skills, then you can play in some bigger tourneys and you will truly grow from the experience. (You might get owned the first couple, I Did, but soon after you will start to own people) By the way where r u located?

Definitely a good idea, they have many different levels for almost every skill level.

The summer is the greatest improving time for tennis.

Look on the USTA site for different tournaments.

Go to usta.com, then click on Tournaments-Junior Tournaments, then look to the box on the right, and click schedule.

It will take you to a search engine with age group, location, and month.

Try some lower level tourny's and then move up. you won't get owned to often.

lol i think he was just trying to tell his level, not actually meaning to tell the level of himself since he hasn't been tested anyways......

I live in elmhurst and go to york i started playing fresh year too. and i played my first usta tourny in nov. i got owned but the kid wasn't unbelievable i just was really nervous. i ended up beating him in an exhibition match two weeks ago. but it will definately help you improve. where in chicago r u from?
