View Full Version : Which distance/speed of running will be more effective?

Every morning at about 6:30 (so its nice and cool), I either run 4-5 miles at around 8:00 per mile or I do 3 miles at about 7:15 per mile w/ 60 second sprints.

I usually jog one mile to my high school, and either run at the same pace for 2-3 miles or I do sprint a lap, run a lap, sprint, run, and then run back home.

Which is more effective for burning calories?

...I had a long post typed but I screwed it up and closet it.

Basically, running 25 minutes of sprint-slow jog-sprint is more effective than 45-50 minutes of consistent jogging.
