NBC commentator said some British guy paid 300000 pounds to hit with Federer for 1 hour.

Would you do the same?

For the mega rich, £300,000 ($680,000) is peanuts so if i was mega rich and a tennis fan then yeah I would pay that sought of money.

Maybe it went to Fed's charity, I don't know.

Agassi used to charge $1500 per hour.

It was a charity auction. Federer gave an hour to the highest bidder, with all of the proceeds going to charity. The winning bid was 300,000 pounds.

If Fed accepted that amount for his own pocket it would reflect badly on him from my point of view.

To put it simply: no.

the rich guy probably would get a tax write off for that amount that since it's for charity so it's a win-win situation for him.

breakpoint would be proud aixe.

Wait a minute there! There is a way to play fed for a few 100 ŁGDP. win the $45 USTA wild card tournament for the Miami masters. if you win that win the qualifiers and violia you are in the main draw to face the KING roger

Provided you get to the masters, then actually face Fed in the 1st round, or manage to win enough to get to him :-D . Other than that, this would be a very good way to play Roger :p.

No. Watching him play is reward enough.

Some guy paid over a million to have lunch with Warren Buffett.

For a 1 hour hit I'd gift him one of my personal rackets signed by me.

300,000 pds is nothing... some people on this board would hope for terminal cancer so they could have the make-a-wish foundation submit a request to play with Roger before they kick the bucket.

the winner of the auction is probably some arab sheikh who can't even hit a tennis ball

Seems it included lunch with Roger.

I think its a bargain. If some normal person wants to hit with the best tennis player in the world they should have to pay a steep price. I think 680,000 US dollars is reasonable for hitting with Federer. I wonder how much Sampras charged an hour?

lunch and he got to "play" with federer? ;)

hehe, kinda makes federer sound like a male gigalo.

I must admit I like that sort of thing..I've had the chance to hit with Sampras and it was very expensive, but for a tennis fanatic like me the memories are priceless.

it's a match of tennis, then lunch and afterwards what happens is up to roger. he has the right to say no.

For the battle of the surfaces Nadal and fed split only 1 million euros. The organisers got a bargain.

If I'm super-rich, I would do it. It's a charity donation.

If I can hit with Federer for an hour and maybe have him fix my forehand...
That would be great...

As opposed to a female gigolo? A gigola, then?

Well that guy was probably planning to donate big bucks anyway, and got a nice little surprise. Has anyone found out the cause this is going to? Well, I'm sure it is legit, knowing RF.

i guess there are some people on this board who don't know a joke when they see one. can't you see i used the "winker"? it's cool tho, just a little humor, hehe.

but just general FYI, female gigalo = prostitute.

if it was for charity i'd rather have a hit with vaidisova or some of the hot birds from the WTA, but i guess roger is not that bad

I'm sure there'll be some 'goodies' involved as well other than the 1 hour session and the lunch (ie. autographed stuffs)

Yes. I am a humorless individual. But it's okay. Do not pity me. I have hired a humor gigolo. My first appointment is tomorrow night. Should I be nervous? Will he or she teach me all about 'NOT' jokes?
